Warner’s 2160p HEVC-encoded transfer has been enhanced with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 high dynamic range. Fine details are exceptional, showing off every facial wrinkle, and every splatter of blood to the naked eye. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson put in a lot of his time, effort and ZOA-powered workouts into this character. I don’t know whether DC/Warner decided to play it safe with his character, or whether the Rock refused to allow his “brand image” to be tainted by making Black Adam a really dark character like his comic counterpart, but it feels WAAAY too sanitized for its own good.

After that is the clumsy stabs at comedy complete with a kid trying to teach Black Adam comedic catchphrases… yeah didn’t need that.Sure, the film would feel better if it was made in the 1990s (the film even opens up with 1990s “Smashing Pumpkins” tracks) and is most CERTAINLY just a film for The Rock to act like The Rock, but it’s actually rather entertaining on a base level.

For over ten years Dwayne Johnson has been working and hyping his arrival as Black Adam within the greater DCEU forging his own take on the character that largely ignores ties to his franchise brother Shazam! In the US, the film will also become available at no extra on HBO Max, a streaming service that includes shows and films from DC, HBO, Universal Pictures, WarnerBros and others – although a date hasn’t been announced yet. Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone were fun but ultimately not as impressive as the rest of the team. While I may not have cared for the Paint it Black music choice, that action sequence is a prime example of how all of the channels fire away with the subs punching the LFE to rattle the walls. Therefore, its streaming release date is just 45 days after its theatrical release – which is a very short window (but is common these days).movie back in 2014, DC and Warner changed their plans and instead decided to give Black Adam his own origin movie instead.
