About this deal

The cross between a box of After Eights and a Creme Egg went to chocolate heaven in the early 90s, but there have been numerous Facebook petitions to bring it back since. Cadbury’s white chocolate answer to the Dairy Milk was creamier and arguably tastier than Nestle’s finest, but the power of the Milkybar Kid proved to be too strong. But, like the empire it was named after, its power eventually crumbled and it was taken off the shelves for good in 1978. I started off with a lightly-buttered loaf-tin, lined it quite badly with baking parchment and poured in some of the melted chocolate to form a base. They didn't need any extra fillings or flavours – the swirls somehow made this chocolate bar all the more delicious.

One of several variations on the crumbliest, tastiest chocolate, this turn-of-the-century product saw Cadbury put their white chocolate into a standard Flake. I think they also made a Spiderman one which was red and blue but not as nice tasting as the Casper . In the week that World Chocolate Day (July 7) celebrates its ninth birthday, here’s a look at 15 extinct chocolate bars that you may have forgotten about – but will pretty soon be craving once more. I worked in Charing Cross CJ's before the unit opened and had many great times with the lads n lasses there. The Trio brand, now owned by United Biscuits and produced under the McVitie's name made a temporary comeback in 2016 when the bars went on sale for a limited amount of time. I suppose the closest thing to it these days is a Bounty or the old Cadbury's Coconut Boost - but they're just not the same! They were strangely made to look like a roll-on deodorant bottle but instead of anti-perspirant, they had lickable liquid in them. Oh yes, a mighty chew indeed and fond memories although it goes without saying that we all ate out Texan bars far quicker than the cool cowboy. I heated up some syrup until it was more "liquidy", tipped in the coconut and cherries, stirred, semi-accidentally ate a fair bit of it which made me a bit sick then tipped the rest into the chocoffin.

Chocolate Covered Pretzels were made by Nestle and were exactly as the name suggests - pretzels covered in chocolate! I let this set then repeated four times to cover each of the sides – and yes, this was tedious but then I was left with a little chocolate coffin. Before Freddo came along, these were the cheap and cheerful chocolate bars with a caramel centre and Looney Tunes' Tazmanian Devil (Taz) engraved on them. These original dark bars of chocolate had five fruit fondant centres: orange, raspberry, lime, strawberry and pineapple. The Ice Breaker bar had a shiny, light blue wrapper and a white lightning-type zig zag across the front. Here on my baking blog I share my latest recipes, bread baking tips and chocolate making technigues. They were supposed to look like characters from Masters of the Universe, but instead they just looked like floppy, squidgy, brightly coloured worms.

The Banjo began life as a Kit Kat-style chocolate wafer bar that was only sold in London before reinventing itself as a nationwide product in the 1970s. A little bit like round smarties in a purple square box, Cadbury's Astros had the crispy outer shell of a Smartie but alse contained a little biscuit centre. The Spira was undoubtedly the quintessential chocolate bar if you liked dipping them in your cup of tea.
