About this deal

You can visit the factory of the parent company, but the biscuiterie where the Gavottes are made isn’t open to the public. We just arrived in Maisons-Laffitte for our annual 3 month stay for my husband’s work, and the owner of our rental leaves us (me, because I eat most of them) a box of the Gavottes and a box of Les Galettes de Pont-Aven, also made with butter.

BTW I hate to be *that* reader, but I noted what may be a typo – I think you meant “crazy-expensive,” instead of “crazy-inexpensive”. Feuilletine can also be sprinkled to finish off your chocolate creations and home-baked biscuits with a little extra taste and flair. Fortunately, I had very good friends with generous parents who treated us, and overnight I became a foodie. I have a special process for eating them without making a mess and eating them to the last little crumbs so I don’t waste even the smallest bit of these delicious treats! If you’d like to receive new recipes and the occasional newsletter, I’d love for you to sign up for my Inbox Pastry Chef. The summer I was seven spending time with my grandparents at the beach, I remember seeing the ladies in black, with their tall white lace coifs, making the crepes dentelles on an angled griddle in the marketplace. Someone’s existence continues after death as long as people remember one with fondness and love, I think….

If you are concerned about making these on the stovetop, you can make thin tuiles instead, although I have to say that traditional crepe dentelle are indeed made with a thin batter. When the waiters knew she was coming, they’d set up a small table next to the pastry department and she’d eat there. For those of you who love a challenge, I’m here to tell you that making them is not hard, once you figure out the secret.

When she arrived at the back door of the restaurant, in all her largess and splendor (Did I mention she liked to eat? I intend to use these to make feuilletine, and then use that in ganache to include in the selection of chocolates I plan to have perfected by next Christmas for gifts. French grandparents and others are known to crumble cookies over a dish or bowl of ice cream to dress it up at home.

She was pretty interesting and I’d been to her house a number of times and it was full (… very full…) of a lifetime of all sorts of stuff. Pour l'utiliser, vous pouvez découper à l'aide d'un couteau votre couche de chocolat croustillant, ou bien utiliser un emporte-pièce. The staff at the restaurant noticed me, brought me near the kitchen, and gave me just enough personal interaction to provide comfort and entertainment. The owner said he would try to find a commercial kitchen and sell his crumpets and sell them to groceries, but I never saw them anywhere – and they wouldn’t have been the same as fresh off the grill. I want to get it while I’m in France so if there are any bottles I need to take home with me I can acquire while here.It may not be reproduced in any way whatsoever without the prior consent of BonneBouffe nor without due acknowledgement. I am an American-expat living in Bretagne and there is the GAVOTTE factory five-minutes from my house!
