These techniques not only create amazing results but we are able to have almost zero waste using the smallest of pieces, and have recently started making smaller items such as wooden hair barrettes, coasters and beard combs from our off cuts. Although we repeat certain designs, working with a natural product; no two ties are ever the same which we feel makes our products a wonderful gift to yourself or others. When I started looking into shibari, I couldn’t find a comprehensive, step-by-step, and easy-to-follow course that would teach me the essentials to start exploring the world of rope bondage. Tieroom is a family business which opened its virtual doors 2009 with our own big collection of ties.At the start our focus was on design, and it's safe to say our patterns have been appreciated, but over the years the actual construction and build of the tie has gone through several improvements. Our silk is Mulberry Silk with a Jacquard weave and a weight of 28 momme (silk doesn't get much better than that) and our other materials are as carefully selected. For instance, the interlining has wool mixed into it to get the perfect thickness and weight (where much of our competition only uses cheap polyester). Most of the courses out there were very disorganized, difficult to navigate, and felt extremely threatening.
We use up to 7 different types of wood on some ties and form decorative patterns by using traditional woodworking techniques such as marquetry and inlay.
I also decided to provide my students with lifetime access to the courses and all future updates to ensure you can go at your own pace and always come back to the course for new lessons or to refresh your memory. Shibari creates a space of vulnerability and intimacy with your partner that fosters deep connections. This will give you enough horizontal ropes to weave the rope through and create weaved flowers as a decorative twist to the simple chest harness.
