The short battery life, mediocre suction, and tiny dust canister mean it’s not suitable for anything bigger. When you’re ready to vacuum you just grab the cleaner from its stand and press the power button on the front to turn it on. If you don’t have a ONEPWR accessory, then the Vax product doesn’t offer good value: it’s bulkier and its battery has to be charged externally. And the battery should give enough run time to manage a whole flight, depending on how thorough you are. Again, using the standard nozzle, I quickly cleaned a path through the middle, without any rice dropping back onto the floor.

During our tests, we found that it doesn’t have the suction power to remove anything but the loosest dirt and hair from your car interior. The Hoover H-Handy is more like an electric dustpan and brush than something to replace your main vacuum. During our testing, we found that the nozzle was OK for larger debris, but tended to get suctioned against surfaces (including hard floors) if you use it at slightly the wrong angle. Luckily, getting the vacuum going was a piece of cake and we've yet to look at the instruction manual because everything is so straighforward; there's no fancy set-up you need to be aware of, just charge it up and go.It comes with a compact docking station, too, which charges the H-Handy through a pair of metal contacts and provides a place to stow the brush attachment. We've tried out our share of handheld vacuum cleaners and we would have been disappointed if the Hoover H-Handy 700 had been anything other than plug-and-play. Its appearance is part of the appeal, as you don’t need to hide it away, and it’s lightweight and convenient to use around the home. Still, if you want an easier way to deal with quick cleaning tasks than dragging your main vac out, this Hoover is a cheaper option than the superior Shark WV200UK.
