Hues and Cues | Board Game | BoardGameGeek

Fans of simple games to bring the family together will have a great time with Hues and Cues, and the lack of text means the very young (or very old) don’t have to worry about reading. After all, that’s why we do these reviews — to give you a feel for a game and help you decide if it’s right for your group. I’ve been playing Hues and Cues, from The Op, another game looking to help you make merry when the hordes descend on your house for a gathering. Simple enough for children to be included (we let them pick another card if they couldn’t think of a clue for the four colours on the one they drew).

You draw a card from the deck and choose one of the four options presented and give a one-word cue to the hue. The most glaring being that it is obviously not inclusive of people with colour-blindness and other visual impairments. We do this using a variety of digital marketing networks and exchanges, advertising technologies like web beacons, pixels and cookies, in addition to technology offered by third parties such as Facebook pixel's custom audience feature. Neither can they say a clue regarding direction, such the number of the column it’s in, or the area of the board it resides. The clue you give cannot be a primary or ordinary colour word (yellow, blue, red, orange), but it can be a shade (violet, fuchsia, magnolia).

But, by their very nature, they can quickly outstay their welcome if played too often with the same group. The only drawback I’ve found is it doesn’t retain the same level of novelty and excitement through repeated play with the same group. Please re-visit this Cookie Notice regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. We really like that the scoring frame has numbers printed on the edges so you can easily remember how many points you get for being inside vs adjacent outside the walls. However, I am reliably informed this is an ignorant assumption on my part as the game is based on colour perception not matching. Your brain is a sieve, and your knowledge of colours is but spilled flour on the kitchen counter of ignorance. It shows how bright the bulb can get at 2700 K (White bulbs) or 4000 K (White ambiance or White and colour ambiance bulbs). By letting players have a card in hand long before their turns, they can be thinking of their potential cues before their turn comes.
