In 2023, the shortlisted books include a slow-burn mystery set in colonial Australia and a thrilling new novel from the author of Fatherland. With good reason as they are lengthier books, and the illustrator also took longer to complete due to mental health illness. In terms of the seven main books, the ebooks are a convenient and inexpensive option for those on the move. This is a lengthy wait for the book, but Jim Kay’s work is incredibly detailed, and Rowling’s Half-Blood Prince is very long (the fourth longest in the series, in fact). The illustrated editions are always great because you get to see illustrations of the characters and beasts drawn exactly as they were written. We feel so grateful and privileged to have enjoyed Jim’s vision of the wizarding world, and recognise the staggering amount of dedication and work it represents.
