About this deal

The first time something like this jumped out at me was when I was listening to Crown The Empire’s 20/20 (Genre: Metalcore). Mids do exhibit good fundamentals with a slightly soft timbre yet natural in tone, while taking a step back from the treble and bass ends, mids emphasis is not forward yet not overly recessed. Overall, the Tyr is a better choice as well if you don’t mind the non-detachable cable (you do get nice Final E-type tips). It’s just there to make sure that things don’t sound overly dark but it takes the furthest seat in the entire presentation. KB EAR does have a very unique name but make no mistake, they have been making earphones for quite a while now and even have a popular models such as the KB EAR Diamond i1 and the TRI i3.

I wholeheartedly recommend this IEM for those people who really want a decent, quality bass on a budget. That’s one more reason why drummers will not love this headset: the charlestones are a bit of a slap and the bass drums do not explode as they should (don't try listening to Dream Theater, you will cry).If you’re using these IEM’s for video chatting, you’ll be surprised at how clear and in the room voices sound.

In fact I would love to see the next evolution of the KS1 tuning using a higher end dynamic and a more premium shell with better balancing for their next dynamic earphone. I have a drawerful of KZ brand earbuds and there is not really a bad one in the bunch, but if I put them on a comparative scale with each other, the KB EAR KS2 will not rank with my favorites. pin ports are slightly recessed but not completely so, thus making it more suitable for TFZ-type connectors. It also exhibits a bit of midbass bleed that may make the male vocals sound a bit distant when the tracks get very busy. I can see a clear use case for the KS1 as they are supremely comfortable with a very ergonomic shape and since it is utilizing a single dynamic the size is smaller and thinner for the housing than most semi custom designs.Overall, the sound is competent if unremarkable and will cater well to those who need a bassy signature. So to test if the KBEar KS2s would suffer the same fate, I threw the IEMs in my pocket with a set of keys and shuffled around for an afternoon. It has this “alive” attribute to it, with vocals being rendered in a full manner, no thinness or hollowness whatsoever. Right at the minute mark the producer mixes some heavily processed backing vocals that are usually quite separated and spacey when listening on more expensive IEMs and over-ears.
