About this deal

I have a wee confession that although I own all the previous books in the series I haven't read them all and I had no problem following the threads from the previous outings. A few personal scenes are interspersed to continue the personal subplot and to give some breathing space to the readers. The twists and turns are unrelenting and as the reader navigates their way through the shocking events, it becomes abundantly clear that everything is on the line.

The following week, the body of a primary school teacher is found in a Dumpster in an Edinburgh alley, strangled with her own woolen scarf. This time, it is personal, Ava is affected directly by the death of her friend and still grieving when she needs all her wits to hunt down the serial killer.

But with the threat - and body count - rising daily, and no clue as to who's behind it, neither Ava nor Luc know whether they will live long enough to tell the tale. But when it becomes clear that every bomb is a trap designed to kill them too, the possibility of facing it themselves starts to feel all too real. As I was reading I was trying to piece the story together, trying to guess how this was all going to come together.

This case is personal, it cuts deep and Ava is determined to catch this killer by any means necessary. The killer taunts them, providing just enough notice and clues to cause maximum devastation - and devastate it does. From the very beginning we are faced with a story that will provoke a rollercoaster of emotions, especially if, like me, you are big fan of the series and have become invested in all of the characters. The Last Girl To Die that comes out in September of this year features a couple of familiar characters though! ise that several other books had come before this one fesaturing the same detective, however that didnt stop me enjoying this book.Lovely, light humour, tons of emotion, and plenty of festive treats in this perfectly thrilling Christmas read for fans of Richard Osman. Love the police procedural genre and there is a thriller element here, mental illness is certainly a factor in the plot as well. On the other hand, there is a kind of totally gone wrong love story about a young woman named Quinn and her boyfriend who, instead of accepting the breakup, turns into a freaking stalker. After seven books we really know Luc and Ava, we love them and going through this gave me emotional whiplash. You’ve missed them, you want to know what they’ve been up to and you want to be there for them when things go wrong.
