About this deal

The Pieces were released simultaneously on VHS and DVD during the first three seasons, [1] and rental VHS versions continued to be released until the end of season eight. Like the American releases, the uncut version and Funimation dub were considered a more effective approach to the series than 4Kids' edited version as aired on TV.

sexual harassment, moderate sex references, moderate violence, language, bloody images (588-591, 593, 598, 599, 607, 610-614). The TV series is divided into "Seasons" for home video and initially released as single disc "Pieces" containing 2-5 episodes; the first DVD was released on February 21, 2001 and contained four episodes.Uniquely, the DVD release contains both the English and Japanese logo depending on which audio track is selected; both languages use the Japanese credits with animation, followed by silent English credits referencing both versions. Eternal Log" Blu-ray releases began in January 2021, with each release containing upwards of sixty episodes in Standard Definition (even for episodes produced in HD); [4] due to the higher capacity of Blu-ray discs compared to DVDs, and the relativity low resolution of the video compared to an HD encode, the Eternal Logs include significantly more episode per disc than other releases. Further episodes were presented uncropped in their retail release, but in 4:3 on the rental version; this caused the misconception among international fans that all Japanese DVD copies of the episodes were in 4:3 after rental DVD copies were circulated online.

Some episodes, such as movie tie-ins and the Boss Luffy Historical Special episodes, are released as special episodes outside of the Seasons, though the episode numbering remains unchanged. The movies previously released in America contain the English dub and original Japanese versions, whereas the others contain only Japanese audio. The UK release of the One Piece TV series is identical in content to the American equivalents, including the logo and credit alterations. The 'In The Booth with Brina Palencia' special feature, which was advertised but not included with the US release of Season Five: Voyage Four, is included in Collection Thirteen. Some reviews criticized the earlier DVDs' video quality for including noticeable compression artifacts such as macroblocking, although these problems were noted to be less apparent in later volumes, particularly once the DVDs started using HD masters.Episode of Alabasta: The Pirates and the Princess of the Desert ( The Desert Princess and the Pirates: Adventures in Alabasta). As was typical of Funimation before the release of their "Season 4", Funimation dubbed the closing theme Compass for the English dub track of this release. Although the first 574 episodes remain unavailable on HD Blu-ray in Japan, an international release beginning at the first episode is scheduled for January 2022. The TV series has only been released on DVD in the UK, whereas later North American releases were bundled with Blu-ray discs. The audio and translation issues were carried over to the Blu-ray release of Movie 8, [41] but did not affect movies 10 and 12.
