Osprey's high-quality workmanship still shines through, even though we have major issues with the pack's design. While the pack material is water-resistant itself, once you remove the rain cover, the roll-top and massive zipper do little to keep out water. There were quite a few places to clip and lash items on the exterior of the pack despite the lack of daisy chains. This fabric is also Bluesign-approved, meaning the people that make the fabric work in healthy conditions and the fabric itself is sustainable.Side sleeves can often be flimsy or undersized, but the Archeon's are great, with plenty of depth to securely hold a big water bottle, and a useful combination of a stretchy top section for easier access and a nylon bottom part for toughness (think trekking pole tips and the like). However, because of its “extendable” storage capabilities the Archeon 25 can effectively DOUBLE in size and storage capacity making it ideal for day hikes, camping trips or even weekend breaks. A core theme of the show was sustainability, and – Osprey being Osprey – they were front and centre of that theme. I have hopefully provided more than enough info, insight and inspiration to help you decide whether the Archeon 25 is the pack for you. While its stiff suspension is comfortable, it's paired with a nearly useless, tiny hip belt, and ventilates poorly. This pack is alright for most day activities, but there are cheaper, higher performing, and more versatile options out there. All models in the Archeon range are available either for men or women, which is useful since the male and female frame tend to be quite different.
