They’re dishwasher and freezer-safe too, so you can pop your yoghurt in the freezer when you fancy fro-yo for a bit of a treat. You can be sure the lids are securely sealed, airtight and leakproof as long as the ridged bands around their edges sit flat against the sides of whatever you’re storing. They create an airtight, leakproof seal over all shapes and sizes of plates, bowls, jars and mugs, keeping food fresher for longer and saving you waste, time and effort. Particularly handy with pots of cream, dip etc which are no longer sold with a plastic lid, and much better than using cling film. Over the years we’ve been making changes to our packaging to reflect the sustainability values we have as a business.
From our Super Thick pots being made from 100% recycled plastic, to offering a recycling service via Enval for recycling our Little Yeos pouches, recycling is always front of mind. It was not clear from the listing or the packaging that these lids are different sizes and it was implied that they would fit a variety of sizes. So a better seal and no throwing away plastic, just a quick wash and it’s ready for my next opening of a Big pot of yummy Yougart! As a celebration of 70 years of being faithful to Nature, we have removed the single-use clip-lids from all of our range of Big pots of yogurts. Okay, getting rid of plastic lids is very laudable, however trying to take advantage of the free lid offer is annoying at best. I recently swapped my organic milk brand to yeo Valley organic milk, unfortunately the product was full of slime and actually made me feel sick. You might have noticed that these pots seem a little wobbly but that’s because the plastic content is lower than our standard pots. Each lid has strong tabs all around the edge to help you pull it into place around any shape of container, and a longer pull tab for releasing the seal. Although they’re designed to fit most standard pots there will always be exceptions – I’m sorry to hear they didn’t suit and I’ll be in touch to help.
The larger lid is too big for things like tall pots of cream (think Elmlea) but the small lid doesn't fit those either.
Without the clip lid, you might be wondering how you can keep your yogurt at it’s freshest after you’ve opened it. Following a successful trial removing the clip lids from our Greek style yogurt range, we’re now removing the plastic clip lids of our big 350g and 450g yogurt pots. I was happy to save tokens to get a permanent lid - but I have saved the tokens and they have removed the option to get a lid! Please note, because of the size of the pots, our Super Thick and 950g tubs will keep their plastic tops. Beeswax wraps are an eco-friendly storage solution that can be moulded to fit different container sizes, perfect for yogurt pots! I noticed other companies had done the same so I kept a few disposable lids back and this is what I use. However given that's the sort of thing I use them for the most, it would be so helpful to have a pack sold in just the smaller sizes.
