There may not be much of them, but what there is of the IE600 has been very carefully designed and constructed by a company seemingly uninterested in cutting any corners whatsoever. And as I've said in all of my evaluations, the same is true for this one: all of the concepts I've expressed below are entirely my own, original ideas that haven't been influenced by anyone else. I will once again howl into the void that the new case the 3,6 and 900 use is not a patch on the IE 800S one but it’s a sturdy and well made thing that slots into a pocket easily enough.

Female vocals in the higher octaves have a very full and rounded sound, while the upper treble is smooth.

Within the IE 600, this system and the acoustic back volume has been tuned for a tonally neutral, intimate and emotional sound. What the IE 600 really wants to do out of anything else, is display all of its details in a way that lays everything out on the table. Given that Sennheiser is claiming a frequency response of 4Hz to very nearly 47kHz, its assertion that the driver fitted here is ‘full range’ seems difficult in the extreme to argue with. And given that Sennheiser is claiming the most accurate channel-matching and the lowest unit-to-unit variations anywhere in the industry for its drivers, thanks to a manufacturing operation that includes precision cameras to monitor the process, ‘properly implemented’ seems to be covered too. Sennheiser bundles a decent selection of ear tips in the package as well, including silicone and foam variants.

They give it proper context and weight, and they do so without ever losing sight of the fact that it’s the entirety of a performance, its unity and coherence, that’s the most important thing.
