About this deal

Until a travelling circus ringmaster knocks at the castle door, promising to make Stitch Head a star. The Take it Further Fiber Book is my first fiber book ever and this is how I went about making the book. I am newly retired, still finding my sea-legs and I’m hoping that this practice will add structure to what can be rather floppy days. However, you would have to do this, when your needle is on the outer edge of the signature and not in the centre portion.

I’m going to try and follow along but I have several other projects on the go so we’ll see how I do with time management. The left hand portion of the first page is stitched onto the inside of the front cover (visible in picture above) and the right hand portion of the last page is stitched onto the inside of the back cover. In case, the kettlestitches are too tight or bear a high amount of tension, the book would become misshaped from the back or the signatures would tear apart. I was looking for a longer term project for this coming year (2023) that can include slow stitching, embroidery and beloved scraps. I’ve decided to leave out the fusing in the Take a Stitch Tuesday books because the pages are about an inch or so smaller and since two layers of fabric make-up a page, the pages are fairly stiff. The whole Hardanger section has been re-designed and updated with the help of my Editor, Jenny Dixon, and the clever graphics of Ethan Danielson with even more stitches and techniques in the counted sections. Now tie up the end of this thread to another piece that is also 30 inch long; secure the two pieces with a tight square knot that should be close to the hole from which you just brought the needle out as demonstrated in figure 60.

You can knot up the two pieces of thread in as similar manner with which you create a knot in a single thread piece. There are always more stitches to discover… Whilst visiting the Palazzo Sorbello in Perugia, Italy (as one does! To participate you just need some fabric scraps and a willingness to show up everyday for 100 days and stitch for 15 minutes. Knot up the previous thread, but before tightening it up, pass the new thread through the centre of the knot. Now I am a ceramic artist but I have always wanted to try slow stitching and use my stash of fabrics. I’ve been getting your wonderful news letters and I would love to participate in the hundred days book, I’m not on social media although I do have an instagram but rarely use it….

It’s an opportunity to listen to yourself and maybe get glimpses into your singular and powerful imagination that you would not otherwise get. I originally wrote the Stitch Book (1st Edition) because my New Cross Stitchers Bible was out of print and also because I wanted to create a simple stitch book. If this is the case, splice a new piece of thread when only four to five inches of the previous thread are left. Corners of pages must be matched and pinned and then the pages need to be joined, sewing and connecting blanket stitches on both pages. com) onto your thread with beeswax; pinch the thread against it at least two or three times as shown in figure 48.This project will stretch me in new areas, unsure where and what type of material I will find for the pages but finding that will exciting and inspiring too.
