About this deal

More problems face the rig as the flare goes out and the electrical systems go down, and Fulmer makes a dangerous decision to prove he can still be trusted. It's mentioned that he has had other great escapes in the past from all the other prisons they tried to put him in. Given the world we live in, if that has made you wonder whether ‘The Rig’ is inspired by actual events, here is what we think. Roger Levy's cultural and social media critique is thrillingly sharp and stinging without being preaching, overbearing or annoying.

I just instantly felt like these are my people in a way - coz I'm Canadian and we are very different from Americans - there is really this connection, I feel, with UK actors and Scottish actors and people that we can make fun of ourselves.A Jewish girl joins up with Polish resistance groups to fight for her people against the evils of the Holocaust. When you went to certain places on the rig, you went through hatches, so there’s tension in that already, and it did feel quite an ominous place to be filming.

It seems the author quit writing this book for a few months about 2/3 of the way through and picked it up again to ramble off a bunch of quick plot twists, increase the pace ten fold and then drag out to truly snoresville ending for another hundred pages. As we come to learn more about the nature of the mysterious fog, the impending environmental disasters only increase its presence. So I think that's what David's [Macpherson - the show's creator] script does really well, it's high octane, it's enjoyable, and then I mean, climate change is here, it's not up for debate and we should be very proud of what we achieved in the North Sea in terms of the feats of engineering, and being Scottish it's a part of our heritage we should cherish and it's still got a role to play going forward, but that role is getting greatly reduced. While some aspects of the story were predictable, I was still invested in seeing how the entire thing would resolve. The first episode, when we're getting to know the crew and their plight first becomes clear, is the highlight so far, managing to cleverly dole out exposition around motivations and grievances without appearing heavy-handed - it packs a lot of character depth into one hour of storytelling.

While the tsunami is still at the height of its power when "The Rig" ends, it's like to set a gateway for more natural disasters to come. Plunged into an unknown location, the fates of Rose, Fulmer, Magnus, Harish, Heather, and others all hang in the balance. The 16-year-old is taken in by the leaders of Akiva, a fledgling Jewish resistance group that offers her the opportunity to become a courier, using her fair coloring to pass for Polish and sneak into ghettos to smuggle in supplies and information. Except it isn't a surprise; it's the same reused trope of the magnificent bastard, which we see throughout fiction. Considering its explicit overarching story about humankind directly attacking the Earth, there's no sugarcoating exactly what the show is trying to say.Horribly plausible as it may be, the supernatural, thriller, and sci-fi undertones of "The Rig" mean that anything is possible when it comes to the theme of humanity vs. When they are in getting repaired at Invergordon, they tower over the town and you see them wherever you are.

Granted, his father is an abusive, trigger-happy crime lord, but that doesn't guarantee Pellonhorc would turn out the same way. One of the other great things about setting it on an oil rig is if you don’t like somebody, you’re going to see them a lot. As an example I can mention that the fate of the Amadeus Arkestra at the beginning of this novel is disturbing and memorable.I will also say that some of the effects were pretty shoddy, which, in this day and age, is unecessary. In this novel, humans have spread across the depths of space and people are connected by the social media platform AfterLife.
