I stood there, staring up at the giant mahogany doors of the villa as I felt a pool of wintry anxiety settle in the pit of my stomach. so yeah overall it was okay, go in without expecting the book to be great, it's just supposed to be what it is, an angsty, icky, melo-dramatic soap opera kinda book lol.

I didn’t truly believe the things he was saying about Raven because he kept going back to her sister saying stuff. It is a shame that I didn’t love this story more after loving the previous Catharina books, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. The language in the story was highly repetitive, the MMC was a spineless walkover, and the FMC was worse. Maura had written characters who are genuinely villainous, selfless, and understandably confused when faced with their new future. Ares is understandably caught between two sisters and facing a new bride, while Raven’s own future is in jeopardy if she doesn’t agree to marry Ares. He glances at me the way he does sometimes, as though he can see straight through my lies and deception, but he nods nonetheless.
