About this deal

But when Arobynn dispatches her on missions that take her from remote islands to hostile deserts, Celaena finds herself acting independently of his wishes and questioning her own allegiance. For books 2 and 3, i would say the same thing but maybe wait for the next year for them at 12 and 13. Personally I love romance so this series is amazing to me, but if the child doesn't like/understand romance they they probably wont like this. Throne of Glass: Throne of Glass, Book 1 - Common Sense Media

Probably wouldn’t want a child to be reading of people getting their heads chopped off very vividly. But it is more the content of throne of glass where they kill and murder and torture each other that little kids shouldn't read, especially if they have grown up in a more sheltered environment. I think book five is where the sex scenes become more detailed, but in remembering my own experiences I was definitely reading adult material by the time I was a freshman in High School. If you like the kinds of books that I described, then I think you’ll like this series as much as I did.How do you feel about stories where the protagonist is forced to choose among various options, all of them bad? Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas - LoveReading4Kids

Perfect for Game of Thrones fans, this high-octane, action-packed fantasy is pure entertainment, with plenty of amped-up romance, high drama and a daredevil heroine who will particularly appeal to teenage girls. Westfall wants Celaena to be the young Prince Dorian’s ‘champion’ in a deadly contest in which she must face the most gifted criminals and assassins in the land. But if you are a parent reviewing a series for your child who is younger, this might not be the series for you if you are wanting to keep your child from reading books that contain descriptions of adult activities. There's also strong sexual menace: One character becomes the lackey and sex slave of an evil queen to save his kingdom from a worse fate; Feyre is menaced by characters intent on raping and killing her and in other scenes is beaten until her bones fracture. Just wanted to make sure readers are aware that it is an erotic romance, with very detailed sex scenes (first book is not that explicit, but as the books progress the explicitness increases).Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. There is so much swearing, it's very dark, there are drug references, and the later books have extremely explicit romance scenes. The king's champion, enslaved 18-year-old Celaena, is a famous assassin who's offered the chance of freedom if she prevails in a Hunger Games-like contest.

But when Celaena arrives at the luxurious glass palace to compete in the tournament, she soon discovers that there is more at stake than she could ever expected, and she increasingly finds herself drawn into the intrigues of the Royal court. It is over all a really good and addictive series i could not put it down and have reread it 6 times since. I loved everything about it, the strong-willed, kick-ass main character, the fast paced action, the plot that reeled you in but most of all the writing itself was rather astounding. This is a very late answer but, I think from throne of glass to queen of shadows and tower of dawn, the books i are okay for sixth graders, but empire of storms and kingdom of ash might be a bit graphic and inappropriate.
