While on a sailboat ride, Blaze, AJ, and Stripes discover Animal Island, an island inhabited by friendly animals with their own thing to do. When the Great Animal Crown is lost at the bottom of the ocean, Blaze transforms into a super-fast shark to retrieve it for his Animal Island friends before Crusher can grab it first and becomes the king of Animal Island. Meanwhile, while waiting, Pickle tries to cheer Crusher up by singing familiar tunes, only for him to insert "ninja" into the lyrics and for Crusher to tell him the words are wrong. When three big deliveries are needed all over Axle City, there's only one monster machine with the power to haul it all: Big Rig Blaze! Axle City is the main location of the series and where Blaze, AJ, Gabby, and all of the rest of the Monster Machines live. When Watts met Blaze, AJ and Gabby for the first time, she happily asks Gabby to be her driver, saying that she never had anyone driving her before. Also, Pickle is the coach of the all the games and teaches the sports legends how to be at their best.As the show progressed, AJ became the one to describe the STEM concept instead of Blaze in earlier seasons. Meanwhile, back in Axle City, Crusher tries to get new tires but refuses to follow the instructions. Blaze and AJ train to be ninjas with Ninja Master Blackbelt and use their skills to rescue Crusher and Pickle from a snowy mountain after they capulted theirselfs.

Zeg (voiced by James Patrick Stuart) is a light green and dark aqua half-dinosaur triceratops, half-monster truck with brute tendencies based on a Terradyne Gurkha/Armet Gurkha F5. Blaze and AJ meet their fans and Crusher's Grammy comes to see him in the big race, so Crusher decides to cheat with a pair of rocket skis to impress her. At the very beginning of Season 2, Blaze becomes the newest member of the Axle City Fire Department and Season 4 has him join the Axle City Police Department to help Officer Anna.He and his friends would also visit VelocityVille (where they turn into Race Cars to take part in adventures and Race Car Events) and Animal Island (to visit their animal friends and transform into animals for competitions or to take care of problems and/or obstacles). Blaze and his friends are participating in one of their biggest races yet - the Race to the Top of the World. Pickle is putting on a magic show for all of Axle City, and his magic tricks are done with help of his magic wand. Blaze and AJ meet 7 magical unicorns of every color of the rainbow, but when one of them, Violet, gets trapped in an unpoppable bubble, they must turn into knights and rescue her from the Big Bad Bubble Swamp.

On race day, Crusher cheats twice as hard to beat Blaze, AJ, Watts, and Gabby -- sending both drivers far, far away; Blaze and Watts become determined to save AJ and Gabby and get back to the race in time to win. Blaze and Crusher discover a medieval kingdom of knight trucks, and they become knights themselves and participate in a royal race with them.
