I didn’t like how she was the sexual aggressor with all the men… and it made me feel icky that she was so casual about it… I also didn’t like that she was sexually intimate with one and then coming on to the other without them knowing about it.

Violence is depicted in various ways including torture, stabbing, bombings, assault, attempted sexual assault, and other actions. The fact that Briar did not take any shit from the MMCs and demanded respect from them just made me so happy. I dedicate my free time to consuming romance media, but I will admit that I sometimes hesitate when it comes to reading straight romance stories because I get so frustrated with the lack of agency given to FMCs. The characters are sensitively portrayed, as is their recovery, and the hopeful ending is realistic. Not to mention, while she does have some moments of reflection and personal growth, her core personality remains throughout the story.
