Taking the black, red and yellow-brown colour palette of the box art, and creating dice to fit the theme is an easy way to just make the box feel a little bit more special. Players can also play Warcry competitively in Matched Play, in which case only specific balanced options are used. Rendered in blue plastic, these detailed miniatures are push-fit, meaning they require no glue to assemble (but we’d always recommend using glue anyway). GW is fanfaring Heart of Ghur as the launch box for a “new edition” of Warcry but, despite a splendid new forest colour scheme, the actual rules haven’t evolvedall that much from 2019 to 2022. Warcry, on the other hand – and it’s important to remember that Crypt of Blood is a Warcry product – takes larger forces and has them do battle with one-another, factoring in larger features such as larger pieces of scenery and without the deck-building element.The walls and fence posts are in the same architectural style as the masonry you find on the bases of the models from Warhammer Quest: Cursed City. It has everything for a beginner in it, along with all the new expansive content that tried and tested Warcry players will be all over. Expensive though it may be, Red Harvest looks to be the next best thing to a Warcry boxed game that’s going to be available for the time being – which isn’t so bad, as it’s oozing with stuff to keep you busy. There’s no doubt that these are some lovely models, and very much prove just how diverse and characterful the Stormcast Eternals range can be.These miniatures are absolutely spectacular in every sense of the word, and ooze the same amount of character and detail as the Stormcast Eternals before them. It might be a bit on the expensive side for anyone completely new to the hobby, but, as we shall see, it’s a great box with plenty in it to keep everyone busy. Warcry is set in the Eightpoints, with each Warband battling to earn their place in Archon’s legion. The statue is made of three pieces, the sarcophagus four, and all the walls clip straight off the sprue with no need for any assembly (do so with care, however: I managed to bend a few of the spikes on the top of one of my sections of ruined walls whilst cutting them off the sprue).

Lastly, the back cover even has content on it, including the name and lore generators for the Shadowstalkers. They also include six terrain cards for setting up battle above ground using only the ruins supplied in this set. The new season of Warcry takes the action away from the Varanspire*** and into the living forests of Ghur, better known as the Gnarlwood. They may carry hammers and other tools of the forge, but the Horns of Hashut prefer destruction to creation. Cheap gaming mat stands out like a sore thumb in what is otherwise a very nice, very high-value box.

It’s quite surprising, then, that the mat in particular does not match up with everything else – especially when we see just how nice the miniatures in this set are, which we’ll get on to in a moment. The first chunk of the book is given over to the Warcry setting, as well as getting you familiar with the basic concepts surrounding Warhammer, such as building and painting your minis. One of the coolest parts about this set for me is the new board and all of the scenery it comes with.
