Originally developed in the 1500s, it is currently enjoying a renaissance among furniture refinishers and DIYers. Then take just a spoonful of paint. You don’t need an equal amount of paint otherwise your Liming Wax will be too concentrated. Mix the two together and presto change, you now have Liming Wax. The next step is to strip and remove the old tired finish. This needs to be done in a well ventilated area and we recommend to wear personal protective equipment. What I should have done, is wipe off the excess and then use clear wax to remove the liming wax from the flats and from the areas that didn’t need to be highlighted. Sadly what I did was rub in the liming wax and dry wipe away the excess. The results looked pretty great at first. Raising the grain is also a useful step when you want to stain pinewood and use liming wax with pine. This extra step will help the grains catch the liming wax better when the wax is applied, which will allow the natural grain to shine through the layer of liming wax.
