Taste (with around a teaspoon of water in roughly a single measure) jammy red fruits and/or jammy tropical fruits and toffee? years ago, bottling at 46% ABV, non-chill filtering, and no added coloring were starting to get championed. Enjoyable from the first touch, it's true that will be more magnetic to Irish and bourbon whiskey aficionados.THE FATHER OF JAPANESE WHISKY – Nikka was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, who is often referred to as “The Father of Japanese Whisky”. They’re only likely to start discussing more technical aspects of whisky production if there’s a clamor for it. Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, the brand is headquartered in Tokyo and is the country's second largest distiller. Like on the nose, I get one taste made up of honey, coffee, unsweetened coffee jelly, vanilla, burnt caramel, toffee, and cinnamon.

I once went to a Nikka tasting session two years ago and these remained my favorite out of all the core bottlings there. This expression is not categorized as ‘malt whisky’ but as ‘grain whisky’ since it is not distilled in a pot still. How are more enthusiasts going to know why Mortlach, a Speyside single malt, has this meaty and heavy flavor while most of the other Speyside single malts are lighter and cleaner in flavor? Nikka are one of the legends of Japanese whisky making, and one of the things that makes them stand out in Japan is their Coffey still which produces different flavours to a usual pot still. During this period, I’ve realized that, despite being presented as the most prestigious and cleanest of spirit categories, whisky has plenty of dirt and shenanigans that are being passed around as facts. I rarely find this note in a pot still malt whisky or in a bourbon (which sometimes uses continuous stills or doublers, but is aged in virgin oak). Predominantly made from corn, whisky distilled in a Coffey still is matured in old casks such as re-filled, remade and re-charred casks originally made from American oak to deliver the sweet and mellow flavors of Coffey distillates.
