Edit: This video also had me removing the laptop but YouTube has an issue with clips merged in QuickTime. It’s not a problem - it functions great once it’s in - however it’s not as perfect as the previous generation. This keeps your desk clear of unsightly cables, while ensuring all of your required external devices are connected. In addition there is a little bag with a hex wrench, a set of small headless hex screws and three small bracket contraptions meant for keeping your MagSafe adapter in place. Once you have all this done you won't ever have to do it again but it would have been better if all this was done to begin with.Not sure about the newer models, but on my 2010 MBP, the fans are actually completely blocked until you open the lid.

As with other Henge Docks products, the Retina MacBook version is form-fitted down to cutouts for the laptop's feet. My setup involved two USB cables (one for my iPhone dock and one for the display), MagSafe and Mini DisplayPort.In my case, I was using a passive stand, and it actually gets slightly warmer in the dock – but not notably so, even when video editing or running X-Plane on a 49-inch monitor.
