About this deal

Antiperspirant and deodorant are often used interchangeably, but they’re not the same. An antiperspirant can be a deodorant, but a deodorant isn’t always an antiperspirant. This is because “deodorant is designed to mask the odor, and antiperspirant creates a barrier to prevent or stop sweat from forming,” according to Dr. Saedi. We like that it didn’t burn or leave a rash when applied (though it's worth noting that the active ingredient, aluminum chloride, can be irritating when applied to freshly shaved skin). It’s fragrance-free (not simply unscented), which means it doesn’t include any perfumes. So in addition to being a great deodorant and antiperspirant, it’s also great for sensitive skin. The only real downside of these is that they’re a bit pricey since you only get 10 wipes. And we thought the smell was quite strong and unique, like cloves or chai tea, which might or might not be to your taste.

Fragrance-free deodorants mean no chemicals or scents have been used to provide a scent that will mask your body odor. These are typically the best option for people with sensitive skin, as fragrances (even natural ones, like essential oils) can cause a rash or burning sensation for some. At first, we found the cream consistency to be slightly off-putting. But we noticed that the cream completely dried within a few minutes, and there was no transfer onto our dark clothing. This deodorant will likely become a favorite once you get used to the unique lotion-like consistency. We like that the after-scent of Arm & Hammer Ultra Max is decidedly neutral but crisp, so there isn’t any overpowering fragrance, making it a great choice for all genders. We do have to add that the Cool Blast option sort of made our armpits smell like fresh laundry detergent. Some folks complain that this gel formula takes too long to dry. Also, we found it can stain clothes more than other options on our list.Joshua Zeichner, MD, an associate professor of dermatology and the director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital's Department of Dermatology in New York City Dr. Yadav recommends this clinical-strength deodorant from Dove to her patients because it is one of the strongest options on the market and offers up to 48 hours of protection from wetness and odor. “It’s also alcohol-free and moisturizing, so it’s very gentle on the armpits and won’t cause discomfort when used after shaving,” she explains. Many products on the market are a combination of both antiperspirants and deodorants. But it’s important to understand the difference between the two so you can understand how to fix your concerns, whether they’re excessive sweating or bad body odor. Here’s the breakdown:

In terms of efficacy, scent, and transfer resistance, this deodorant does the job well. The editor that tested this product wasn't a huge fan of the roll-on applicator. While the ability to swipe and go is a plus for some, it’s not for everyone.Secret Stress Response: This antiperspirant did its job of minimizing moisture, but we found it to have a surprising floral scent even though it's not labeled as unscented, and it left a white residue on clothing. You will not have to look far on the internet to find articles suggesting aluminium is linked to the development of cancer or Alzheimer’s disease and probably similar numbers disputing this claim. Many national and international organisations such as the EU and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US have not found sufficient evidence to conclude there is a causative link. A recent scientific paper from Germany reviewed the evidence for the safety of antiperspirants and other drugs for hyperhidrosis and concluded such concerns remain “unsolved” which is probably as much as anyone can say currently.
