The lower tech it is the more reliable it is, because there’s less to go wrong. MC: My job title is Head of Commercial Experiences. GC: Is there no way to have, say, a video montage, or something, of those types of games, to explain why they’re not there? I mean, something like Final Fantasy 7 is incredibly important to the history of gaming and it’s not represented here at all. MC: Yeah, there’s a few principles for what I’ve chosen to put in there. One is whether it’s family friendly, so there are no BBFC age-rated or restricted games in there. MC: Yes, we’re good friends, we talk all the time. My job in the organisation is to create immersive commercial experiences, and that’s why I also run a cinema. MC: SMG has got really committed, sustainable principles and I want Power Up to reflect that. So we do try and maintain all the equipment in there and fix it. And yes, you are right. Some of that old equipment is simpler and can probably be more easily maintained than a Dreamcast, for example, which for some reason they are quite challenging to maintain. But there still aren’t many of them.
