By my count, that's the whole family catered for with more to spare. The best idea that Duracell have had with their power banks is their "pay for what you need strategy". They've released three power banks ranging in size from 3k to 10k. The former will give you one or two charges while the biggest will give you up to five. The Juice Power Station boasts a lithium battery with a charging capacity of 11,200mAh. For me, that's plenty: enough juice to provide more than six smartphone charges, or fully charge an iPad Air. If you need more power on your weekend away, you might need to do something about your screen usage...

It looks metallic, but the case is actually made of plastic polycarbonate, which houses the lightweight lithium-ion polymer battery cells that power it. However, sulphur is a poor electrical conductor, so the technology still needs developing. Why we like it: The best looking of the lot – and capable of providing a MacBook Pro with a 40pc power boost. So, brains and brawn. Considering that today's kids are probably more interested in an iPad than a remote control car, it seems an ideal way of Duracell bringing their brand a bit further into the future.

And that power can be impressive. Despite the petite dimensions (it sits in the palm of your hand), the imuto has a charging capacity of 20,000 mAh. That's at the higher end of the market: portable power banks range from capacities as low as 3,000mAh up to 20,000mAh – and they get bigger, and heavier, as they grow (at 458g, the imuto isn't too heavy – although you'll find far lighter in this list.)
