About this deal

Throughout the book you get to know the three leading ladies Siobhan, Miranda and Jane, I really enjoy a book from the different characters’ perspectives, I find it incredibly interesting as it really speeds up the pace of the book for me. We predicted that by discharging patients after the second non-attendance we would reduce the no show rate further.

Following three intervention PDSAs, mainly addressing communication and appointment flexibility, the post intervention no-show rate dropped to 18% and was sustained below the target of 25% for two years. The No-Show starts with Siobhan, Miranda, and Jane being stood up on Valentine’s Day for breakfast, lunch, or dinner respectively. Which isn’t to say that heavy material is something I never want to read; I’m just wondering if that’s part of the reason The Flatshare stands out above the others. The team was composed of physicians, a clinic nurse, a specialist nurse, contact centre staff, and the department secretary.

There are also appointment related reasons including; scheduling, communication, and timing of the appointment. I was totally enthralled by each women’s experiences and relationships with Joseph, and somehow never felt any bad blood towards him despite his mysteriousness and at times emotional unavailability. I liked all the female protagonists (even though I kind of wanted Jane to get over being a drip and deal with her trauma, whatever it was). This is the most satisfying conclusion I’ve read in a long time and a wonderfully original take on the romance novel. It also results in a waste of the clinic resources, and physician and other healthcare practitioners' time. I read The No-Showon my most recent Holiday and spent the entire 5-hour plane journey home finishing this book and let me tell you turbulence was knocking me left, right and centre and not even that could stop me from turning those pages! Still himself, more at home in a suit than a hoodie, but just a little more the version you need him to be. In each case, the women’s relationships with Joseph help them grow and heal, even if they don’t end up with him at the end. The author’s last book, The Road Trip, also featured a plot where the reader doesn’t learn everything that transpired until late in the book.

I was so pissed at Joseph and lived in constant fear of how Jane would react when she found out about the other 2 women and then bam! It’s a romance that feels like a mystery, where the puzzle is figuring out what the fuck is going on with all these relationships. I loved every female character in this book, but I must admit my heart really did fall for Jane, the sweetest character with a lot of self-doubt and worry, I was really rooting for Janey and so the ending (if you’ve read the book) made my heart swell! I foolishly read The No Showover the course of a couple of weeks, dipping in and out which was my downfall.Once they’ve each forgiven him for standing them up, they are all in serious danger of falling in love with a man who may have not just one or two but three women on the go…. Jane has to attend an engagement party on Valentine’s Day, and she asks her friend to come with her and pretend to be her boyfriend; both to fend off questions from an obnoxious acquaintance who is always trying to set Jane up, and because Jane is very shy and awkward in company. I devoured The No-Showin record time, powering through its pages despite wanting to save the deliciousness that is a new Beth O’Leary novel for as long as possible.

Our appointment system used to offer patients three appointments before discharging them from the service. This information is going behind spoiler tags so please note it is a Major Spoiler, but I’m keeping the specifics somewhat vague.
