About this deal

Across both sides, we're treated to delightful takes on the standards such as 'We Three Kings Of Orient Are,' 'The Man With All The Toys' and '"Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town'. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and Al Jardine all took an active role in the project, writing several new songs for it, with Stevie Wonder and Culture Club each donating a song. For the album, the band hired Culture Club producer Steve Levine, who took them into the world of drum machines, synthesizers, sampling, and hi-tech recording technology. Wouldn't It Be Nice,' 'God Only Knows,' 'Caroline No,' and 'Sloop John B' (the last of which wasn't originally intended to go on the album) are the well-known hits, but equally worthy are such cuts as 'You Still Believe in Me,' 'Don't Talk,' 'I Know There's an Answer,' and 'I Just Wasn't Made for These Times. Also when I looked after the Smile Sessions I could only find that 2011 edition and was kinda expensive. Two tracks - Ride the Wild Surf (Jan and Dean) and 409 (I think the Surfin' Six) aren't even performed by the Beach Boys, exposing the unauthorised nature of this release. It wouldn't have been a classic without great songs, and this has some of the group's most stunning melodies, as well as lyrical themes which evoke both the intensity of newly born love affairs and the disappointment of failed romance (add in some general statements about loss of innocence and modern-day confusion as well). I wanted a genuine essence of the beach boys album without any dilution or badly re-mastered digital messing about. Produced by Steve Levine, the album is the band’s first to be recorded after the death of founding member Dennis Wilson. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The Beach Boys is the self-titled twenty-fifth studio album by American rock band The Beach Boys, released on June 10, 1985. After the album, CBS Records let the band’s contract expire, leaving them without a record deal for the first time in years.
