About this deal

I am so glad that they somehow got a happy ending although there’s no end yet. But the way this book ends gives me so much hope. I also love the relationship between Kai and Archer. Archer is the villain that I loved from the moment that I first read about him. First time he was mentioned, and I already knew that he’s gonna be my favourite. Don’t get me wrong, I love Kai and Callie BUT he’s got that something and I can’t wait to read the third and fourth book and to learn and know more about him. We came from the richest families in the world. We were supposed to be invincible. But the week we partied on Zion Island, the world was ravaged by a nuclear war.

While I understand trauma can really change people for the worst, I’ve never believed it to be an excuse for doing disgusting things to people. I understood him better by the end, but I wish there could have been more of a redemption arc for him because the end was just not satisfying. Archer Crone is brilliant and powerful. He wears arrogance like a badge of honor, disguising acts of kindness like dirty secrets. But behind the cold mask is a man with a gentle heart that he hides from others. A beautiful heart that I stomped on. A heart that could’ve been mine, but I screwed it all up.

It’s been months since Trent Wilcox was sentenced to exile, but Kelsey hasn’t given up on finding a way to bring him home. Grayson Sloane doesn’t share her enthusiasm. Loving two men is challenging enough without them being at each other’s throats, and she is unwilling to compromise on the future she knows is meant for them. The character development - Callie, Kai and Archer - is AMAZING. Amazing. By the end of the book all have grown and changed somehow. They have matured. Lovely to see that. It's a bit stressful, these two have to overcome internal obstacles, within themselves, interpersonal obstacles between each other and external obstacles in terms of the state of the world and the environment they exist in. At times I felt frustrated by it all. It's hard to visualize how this will all work out.

The romance revolves around Callie and Kai who have met way before all this and who, due to a serious misunderstanding (I hate the misunderstanding trope but this one was not due to the stupidity of the characters and was solved kinda early on the book) hate each other. The development of their new relationship was beautiful to watch - it took some serious pride swallowing from both (IMO) and I swooned a lot 💖😍💖. And there were seriously HOT 🔥 moments between those two!! I loved how consent was so important to Kai and how he melted near Callie. A mix of The 100, Lost, and Divergent. A dystopian world, post Change, post pandemic, post world ending!" - ★★★★★ Goodreads Review

From the blurb, we know this is set in a post apocalyptic world, in an island that was spared to the doom and still harbours the spring breakers who where there at the time when the world went to hell and that those have split into two factions. I really had high hopes for the plot of this book. It was like a mix between lord of the flies and lost with post apocalyptic nuclear fallout. It had a lot of promise to be super unique with the world building and the natural conflicts that come in that environment. It could’ve been built up so much more than it was. It was just disappointing.I’m starting with the third book today, and I can’t wait for the fourth one to come out. I love this book! 5 stars out of 5! I definitely recommend it because it’s a masterpiece and I wish and hope that this book gets the recognition it deserves. I’m good at ruining things. But not so good at fighting my feelings for him. The ones that make it hard to breathe. That hurt. That burn me to the core at the memories of what we lost. He’s gotten too deep under my skin. And now that he pulled away, I’m craving him like I’m gasping for air.

There is a lottery of sorts every so often and when it happens 7 young people are selected to travel to and live on this island, touted to be the last paradise on earth. Only the most beautiful, skilled or useful are selected. Ruthless paradise is becoming an obsession, dystopian romance mixed with a billionaire and workplace trope! What more could you want?" - Chayde The secondary characters were AWESOME!!! Kat, Ty and Maddy are my new fictional best friends! Wish I could grab a drink with them every week 😂 If the next books in this series maintain this writing style, I will probably read everything written by this author. 😊 The first 30% of the book were a bit more slow than in the first one of the series, but not slow per se. And the pace is justified in the whole bigger arc plot. When I reach the island, the first person I see is the one I’ve seen in my nightmares too many times. I can't explain how much I loved this book!!! Is it the next literary classic? No. Did I love it and lived it? Totally.
