About this deal

The change of driver material coating has subtly changed things for the better. The Poseidon are both punchier and airier while maintaining that deliciously smooth character delivered by the Zeus. A side-grade perhaps, but in this case, a worthwhile one.

Relative to the Zeus, they improve on matters like bass response but may not be overall better due to their odd tonality. In the pictures, the headphones themselves look like they’re primarily made of plastic. However, when holding them in my hand, they feel more durable than I imagined them to be. The joints and hinges all swivel smoothly while giving me a feeling of confidence that they won’t just fall off. Lower powered sources like FiiO BTR5 won’t do a good enough job, so I don’t recommend them in particular, but I do recommend tiny DACs with tons of power like Lotoo Paw S1 or Earmen Sparrow. It is always refreshing to review gear from Linsoul, as they are not pushy in any way, and I can take enough time to properly assess the sonic presentation and overall reliability of a product. This means that I got enough ear time with Zeus to both know perfectly how it sounds, and realise I may not have the proper linguistic skills to transfer that knowledge to you. Nevertheless I shall try my best. To be absolutely sure that the headphones arrive in perfect condition HarmonicDyne provides a suitcase for the headphones. Inside the suitcase, there is still more HarmonicDyne branding with an additional small label in the middle that shows the serial number of the headphone. You must return an item in the same condition as it was received. You must also include, in the same condition as it was received: At over 400 grams (without cable), all that metal and wood adds up to a heavy headphone, especially for a dynamic driver. Unfortunately, the minimal synthetic leather padding on the bottom of the band isn’t quite sufficient to offset the weight. You certainly feel the weight after a long listening session.

HarmonicDyne Zeus Review — Headfonics

The Phoenix has more sub-bass reach and has more physical rumble. Its mid-bass is also more pronounced, relative to the midrange which sounds more recessed compared to the Zeus. Male vocals are leaner but less intimate on the Phoneix while female vocals and electric guitars are lifted. Overall, Zeus felt as a more technical sounding headphone, unearthing a higher level of detail while also sounding bigger and wider on all axes, it had more information up top that would further increase the perception of more air around the notes and of a higher detail retrieval.Starting with the build quality, Harmonic Dyne Zeus is really well built. They are a full metallic headphone, with wood accents, and leather insertions, a leather covered headband, and soft earpads. The fit is fully over-the-ear for my larger ears, and Zeus is as comfortable as HIFIMAN Deva, Sennheiser HD800S or any large and uber-comfy headphone. The first issue that I’ve encountered is that the ear pads are staying exactly on top of the metal screws around the silicon ears of the MiniDSP EARS system, thus breaking the seal and recording a non-representative frequency response. I re-measured them more than 15 times after finding the perfect spot on the test jig, no side-pressure was applied on the earcups as they stayed in their natural position. Apart from scale that wasn’t as grand and to the dip in the upper midrange, there is little to complain about these. Detail and resolution could put to shame headphones costing more and the same can be said about the rest of its technicalities. To deliver Hi-Fi products that surpass the norm in terms of both Sound Quality and visual intrigue.” – Linsoul If anything was surprising, it’s how different the Zeus sound to the Helios. They share so much, but sound signature isn’t one of those things. The Zeus (purple) have more sub-bass and lower overall treble and midrange than the Helios (fuchsia).
