For many years, the Monitor Audio Bronze range has been the choice of critics and audiophiles on a budget alike. Now in its sixth generation, the Bronze is better than ever. Right out of the box, Bronze 2 tends to sound a bit sharp and edgy but worry not and give them some time to settle. I haven’t really timed it, but it took around 50 hours for them to shake off that slight sharpness and show their true colors. That pattern is echoed all the way up the range, offering the buyer the choice of either a no-frills dedicated stereo set-up, or the ability to build a surround system without compromising two-channel quality.Launched in May 2015, the current Bronze Series is the latest generation of a line-up that’s been a mainstay of the Monitor Audio offering for some years, and develops the old BX range with the adoption of technology from further up the hierarchy. The 21/15mm (baffle/cabinet) MDF construction features internal bracing for reduced vibration – giving cleaner, less distorted audio. Silver-plated, oxygen-free copper internal cable gives the highest quality current transfer, keeping the signal optimised. A better and more practical approach came after studying human perception. The mechanisms that we use to determine the direction of arrival of sound depend on the frequency. At high frequencies the wavelength of sound is small and so sound coming from the side is shadowed by our head. That creates a level difference between the sound reaching the ear closest to the source and the ear on the other side. Our brain analyzes these level differences and produces an estimate of where the sound is coming from. But at lower frequencies, the wavelength of sound gets longer and our head is not large enough to produce a level difference at the two ears. Instead, we analyze the difference in time of arrival of sound at the two ears. Sound arrives first at the closest ear and we use that to determine the direction. But even that ability fails us below about 80 Hz. The wavelengths get very large and it was found in listening tests that 80 Hz is the frequency below which most people can not localize the direction of sound. I really wanted to revisit the budget offering of this British manufacturer so two days later I took them out of the box, and two weeks later I bring you this review. Also i have listened them for about while and for comparison the jbl' speakers was brand new from the box with no extra time to settle. I even upgrade Yamaha's firmware and even perform factory reset but still no expected sound. I repeat bass and treble is on the max level. I have no room to play less because sound is flat I even played with speakers positions.... Nothing changed.
