About this deal

After these filters I had to upgrade "Rating" from 3 stars to 4 and half stars and "Audio Quality" till max. After EQ-ing the 4-5k region the sound is much more coherent and enjoyable, but then the treble around 8-10k or maybe even higher becomes another issue one which I have yet to EQ properly. It makes the sound of cymbals and S sounds quite piercing and harsh on music that is not very well recorded and generally pushes cymbals too forward. In terms of insulation, neither the 681 nor the 668B insulate much. They do attenuate some of the ambient noise, but not nearly as good as a closed headphone. Great review! Had a white EVO and still burning in. Agree very much on your assessment of the bass department. Not bass head facourites certainly, but the amount EVO can output is satisfying for most I think!

They come with two pairs of pads, the faux leather ones that already come with the headphones aren't very good) I've mixed on these headphones for over 5 hours in a row with only mild discomfort. Mids - Mids are quite flat, slightly recessed around 1k with a small peak at 2.2k, can't really complain about them they are good. THD performance of the HD 681s puts to shame some headphones that cost a dozen times more, including the headphones that they mimic, AKG K240 Studio. The harmonic distortion increase in the low end is nothing to worry about, and while the peak at about 4kHz looks troubling, it wasn’t audible in listening tests. Overall THD is no issue for HD 681 and that is quite amazing for such affordable headphones. How accurate and consistent is the correction effect among different listeners? I've had 3 pairs of these headphones, which is a testament to how good these sound and how badly their cable is designed. update] Well, what i just did, i kinda use a tissue paper and that really reduces the sharpness of the treble. Well, mainly because i just want my ears to be less sweaty when wearing but that really improve the treble. marketing and promotional messages and other information that may be of interest to you and for the purpose of direct marketing. I'm not keen on the shiny plastic finish on the sides. They are fingerprint magnets and I will be using a fine wet and dry cloth to rub this finish down to a matt look. With an EQ, there is a punchier mid-bass response but sub-bass starts to get distorted and do not provide a much deeper sound. One criticism of the headphones is the plastic build quality. It, not the same sturdy plastic the company users of the HD660 which themselves were, by all means, a budget set of tanks. The Evo, unfortunately, has that cheap kind of plastic feel and as such feels slightly fragile and brittle. As long as you take care of them you should not have any problems but it is certainly something to consider for those who have the tendency to be a bit rough with their gear. Superlux HD-681 EVO -Isolation First up Superlux offers 2 detachable cables of varying lengths, we mention this because at this price it's very uncommon for a headphone to offer detachable cables. This allows for years of use and if you are particularly rough on your cables you simply swap them out.The Superlux HD681 aren't basshead headphones at all and have the typical sound that we want from a monitor headphones wich mean detailed, neutral with a good instruments separation. Bass isn't very round and heavy, even if it dig deep and low it isn't the type of bass we feel, tough with a powerfull amp it come to life and have more weight, this headphones will not be appropriate for IDM or rap because of the airyness presentation of the soundspectrum. Still, right now as I listen to Jamie Saft New Standard jazz album, Steve Swallow bass is very well rendered and every note clearly audible, when the drum take more place it is less clearly presented tough because the toms decay can interfer with bass decay. Anyway, the HD681 love (piano!) jazz and play it with great precision and energy, some albums can sincerly sound memorable with them. Overall these headphones are sooooo worth the money, the sound quality is superb, and listening to songs sounds great. If you were to use these for long periods of time they may become a bit uncomfortable for your ears, especially big ones, but I can't complain because of the budget-friendly price. Thanks, Superlux!

The speaker grill protrudes forward, due to this, the ear touches the speaker, but you can put something in the ear pads and the problem will almost disappear. Highs: Here was where I could really hear this thing had only cost me €19,95 ! Too much highs ! Harsh highs ! Non-musical highs... really not good in this department. It sound like it has its own treble boost build in. So I definetly cal the highs "harsh". The best way to EQ headphones (that I know of) is by using Foobar and VST plugins. There are some dedicated threads about this in the Computer Audio section. Comfort is ok the headband is not padded but is not an issue since the clamp of the headphones is what keeps them on your head which is also quite high but over time gets better, the earpads are round and could have a bigger hole, my ears are medium sized and they touch the top and bottom, the pads are also not that soft. Tight fit but not in the assumption of having your head sandwiched hard. But that tightness boosts the hotty and sweaty feel... Will try to loose it.My Number" by British band Foals sounded overly compressed and splashy despite this actually being quite a punchy recording. In comparison, the Grado SR60i headphones sounded more natural, with less emphasis on the mushy hi-hat cymbals.
