About this deal

ToyFare magazine first came out in 1996 when I was in 7th grade and it was a huge part of my formative years.

NECA has given Ash the Ultimate action figure treatment—he comes with four interchangeable head sculpts, chainsaw, mechanical hand, wood hand, hand stump, photo of his car, and shotgun that fits in a back holster… Everything he needs to fight a plague of Deadites. Also sculpted into the torso is the rig of black straps that Ash uses to secure the sheath for his boomstick that’s slung diagonally across his back.I really dig all the detail in the attachment on his stump, and the chainsaw includes the grab bar and some great looking teeth on the belt. I've long collected Evil Dead figures ever since the first Movie Maniacs figure from McFarlane Toys and while we've had plenty of figures from Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, Army of Darkness, and even Ash vs. Once again, NECA has worked their magic and added a couple of excellent figures to this short-lived, but much appreciated, series.

Bruce Campbell's eyes are very expressive in the first film and NECA definitely gave him some side eyed expressions here.

The articulation here is the same as we’ve seen on previous Ash figures and that means lots of rotating hinges.

There's a nice bit of texturing on his shirt and pants that should satisfy anyone dedicated to film accuracy. And I’m really glad they snuck this version in before the end of the series, because it represents what I consider to be two really standout episodes.I'm really expecting NECA to put out a second version with a few new portraits and some of those missing extras: The Necronomicon/ Naturom Demonto, the dagger, the shovel, and the axe from the film. Ash features the likeness of the one and only Bruce Campbell, and comes with three interchangeable heads, chainsaw, axe, shotgun, lantern, tape player, and more! Archive of officially licensed and unlicensed Evil Dead trilogy and Ash vs Evil Dead figures produced by various collectible pop culture figure companies and independent custom figure makers. NECA, one of many collectable toy manufacturers first utilized the Army of Darkness license with head knocker figures of all things. I was thrilled that the summer after I finished 8th grade while staying with my grandmother I happened to find a VHS copy of Army of Darkness which belonged to one of my uncles.

But NECA’s been good about doing the creatures in this one, as this is the third version of the Demon Spawn. The detail here is every bit as good as I expect from NECA, even when they’re turning out another version of Ash and in a one-off outfit to boot. We're just a few days away from Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which will absolutely feature a Bruce Campbell cameo, so let's celebrate the duo's original masterpiece with a look at NECA's Ultimate Ash Williams from The Evil Dead. Sam and Bruce are executive producers, so that's good, but I'm not sure how (or if) it'll connect to anything else. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. These are all superbly detailed and consist of creepy smile, open mouth snarl, and wide open “I’m going to swallow your soul” mouth.
