The first batch of gin was distilled in August 2017 and the distillery will be releasing some island whisky in the near future. The flavours described include coconut and brown sugar, which gives a sweet and tropical taste profile. Island Dark Rum is infused with botanicals like carrageen seaweed, cardamom, coconut and orange for a delicately sweet and spiced character, and should do very well mixed into a Rum Punch. The classic dark rum has been i nfused in on Barra with carrageen seaweed, coconut, cardamom and orange, among a host of other botanicals.

Aromas of raisins, butterscotch and sweet spices fill the nose, and the palate offers notes of dark chocolate, orange peel, banana, raisins and caramel. A 15-year-old Glenallachie single malt, matured in a combination of Pedro Ximenez and oloroso sherry casks, creating a smooth, rich character. Based on the remote Outer Hebridean island, Barra Island Distillers has been churning out some delicious spirits while we wait for the arrival of its first whisky. Infused with their signature botanical, Carrageen seaweed, their award-winning Island Dark Rum is also infused with coconut, cardamom and orange peel. The first batch of gin was distilled in August 2017 using 'Ada', a custom built still named after a special little lady who might be operating the still in the future!
