About this deal

The title for this review should probably be "Never judge a book by its cover" This book sat in my Kindle for months because the cover made me think it was 'fluffy chick lit".

She also delves into the complexity of growing up and slightly growing apart from your friends when you may be at a different stage of life to them!Finance is provided by PayPal Credit (a trading name of PayPal UK Ltd, Whittaker House, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond-Upon-Thames, Surrey, United Kingdom, TW9 1EH). Her father is unwell, her brother has little respect for what she does and she is beginning to feel like she is on a fast-moving hamster wheel that is spinning out of control. This book has a serious message at its heart and one that we often don't see until it is too late - everyone's good mental health is important. Claire is on a very slippery path but is convinced her every calculated move is necessary to prevent her from disappearing off the radar.

Her depcition of a manic episode is genuinely frightening to read, as is its aftermath, and there is more than a brief reminder of White's darker writing in the latter chapters. As a devoted listener of the Creep Dive/Hive and a huge fan of White’s work in general, I gather there are elements to the story that must be autobiographical. Or at least, someone pretty high up in Satanic operations – corner office, nice car, the whole package? Lexi co-hosts a successful podcast with her longtime best pal Amanda, but Amanda's tendency to speak off-the-cuff often lands them in hot water in internet-land.But with a new baby on the way, her life is about to change more than she thinks, especially as she can’t go on nights out with the girls. Early on in lockdown, I was struck by an article I read about the Spanish Flu in early 20th century fiction — namely, that it was notably absent.

Sophie white has an incredible gift at approaching difficult and sensitive topics in a serious yet hilarious way. I can only remain in a state of continuous awe at Sophie White’s ability to master a multitude of genres. Multiple societal and relevant themes are sensitively handled, with Sophie White adding a letter to all readers at the end explaining her own personal battles. BUT it became clear that this wasn't going to be like an episode of FRIENDS and Sophie was weaving together some powerful portrayals of mental health, motherhood and even ethics and morals in social media influencers. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. I really enjoy and admire Sophie White’s work and her essay-style memoir Corpsing is truly unforgettable.

White tackles the topics of new motherhood, changing friendships and mental illness amongst other remarkably well. Once more, there was that awful laughter… as the devil had somehow arrived in the room, only to whizz out of shot, a puff of smoke and silky cape, a shape disappearing through a window. Overall I enjoyed the touch influencers, podcasts and social media how it can be all glamorous and consuming while also being quite toxic.Sophie White has written an incredibly raw and real look into what it means to have - and lose - friends as a woman. It's brilliant the way the stories are weaved together and I actually found it quite an emotional read.
