About this deal

Despite the issues I had with the writing, I’m glad I got the chance to be introduced to the Meller sisters and no doubt I’ll be seeking out more of their story on my own. This is a not a new theme and other books have heartbreakingly taken readers into the depths of the concentration camps. For this reason, this entire story lacked the emotional pull that I have come to expect from this series.

I remember the laughter around the table as bellies ached and tears rolled down cheeks, our laughter so hard we couldn’t catch our breath; as the pain that was always there below the surface found its release. Just before their father’s death, three young girls make him a promise: they will stay together no matter what. It is another rough reading experience as the women had to watch some of their family march to the gas chambers. Martin's Press and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Just a few minutes after the accident when her sister lies in the street dying, Alex manages to remember Lewis's name and city address from his discussion with the police. For the rest, I struggled to focus on their identities, even when it came to discerning between the male characters. Historical Holocaust- ‘based-on-a- true-story’, novel was written from love, warmth, and compassion…. I have no answers but appreciate that one of the sisters has such reservations and doubts about religion and spirituality. From reading the blurb, I was expecting this to be about the revenge act, but instead, there are a lot of other things that feed into this narrative and I consequently felt bored by how long the main plot development was happening.

You might find yourself rooting for one sister over another, but that is okay … I certainly did without guilt! I have recently read another book about Auschwitz and I am not mentally ready to read another one so soon. Heather Morris continues her historical fiction (based on real people) writing with this compelling story of the three Meller sisters.I will admit I’m looking to take a break from WWII fiction and only picked this up because it purports to be about what happens to the sisters after the war has ended when they arrive in Israel. La historia comienza cuando su padre, aun siendo unas niñas, les hace prometer que pase lo que pase van a permanecer juntas.
