ON THE NOSE
Like any quality premium rum, Equiano subtly delivers tropical warmth as soon as its aroma touches your nose. Equality and diversity run deep in their business and set up the Equiano Foundation whose sole purpose is to fund and support ground level freedom and equality projects annually. There are two distilleries, Foursquare and Gray's Distillery, who make the rum, while the brand is owned and run by drinks marketeers Aaisha Dadral and Amanda Kakembo, Rum Ambassador Ian Burrel and more.

A collaboration between two prestigious distilleries, this premium rum marries 1 1 year cognac cask rum from Gray's distillery in Mauritius, with 8 year bourbon cask rum from Foursquare in Barbados. We made this pledge before we had a business registered, before a name or a product had been conceived.ON THE NOSE
A harmonious balance of fresh sugarcane with hints of vanilla, dried light oak and touches of earthy, herbal notes normally associated with sugarcane juice rum. This expression blends molasses rum from the Caribbean with sugar cane juice rum from Africa to create this one-of-a-kind dram. The liquid has no added sugar, no colorants and no added spices, only original flavours that come from the barrels.

Although Equiano is a naturally sweet rum with no added sugar or spices, it has a medium to sweet ending with touches of oak, anise, sweet pepper with a hint of bitter orange peel. I don't think I would drink this neat as it doesn't appear to be that type of rum, however I added it to some spicy ginger beer with a garnish of orange zest and it really is quite a decent rum. The initial mouthfeel of this light rum is a medium sweet taste of ripe sugarcane, more tropical fruit and citrus peel, layered with green apples, pears and hints of vanilla and light oak on the palate. This exciting expression has a particularly deep flavour profile, making it stand out from the average light rum.We'll send them to be recycled and you'll save paper, carbon emissions and time at the recycling centre! the two separate rums are then married in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled at the Foursquare distillery. The rum matures in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-cognac casks to create its exceptional flavour. The unique blend is created to celebrate the diversity of cultures that came together to make the rum possible.
