About this deal

Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse.

Sylvester… and we’ve also included some huge club tracks from Barbara Pennington and Sheryl Lee Ralph, along with the catchiest Dance-Pop from London Boys and Laura Branigan. It's always strange that these compilations feature no Madonna or Michael Jackson etc but you just have to accept that these tracks must be too expensive to include. All 32 tracks are present and correct, except for INXS’ ‘Mystify’, which hasn’t been included due to licensing restrictions. The Police’s remix of ‘Don’t Stand So Close To Me’, alongside perfect pop from a-ha, Holly Johnson, Kim Wilde, Red Box, and the Latin Rascals remix of Duran Duran’s ‘Notorious’, all feature on disc 1. Drawing the collection to a close is the aptly titled ‘America’, which gave Neil Diamond his third Top 10 single in the US from the soundtrack of his film ‘The Jazz Singer’. High Tempo Dance and Hi-NRG found mainstream success in the mid-80s with floor-fillers from Evelyn Thomas, Miquel Brown, Man 2 Man, Boys Town Gang and Patrick Cowley feat. My friends and I (all in our 30's so our musical experiences really started in the 1980's) sat down one day and listed all the songs we liked from the 80's. We include synth-pop from Arcadia, Howard Jones, and Peter Schilling with ‘Major Tom (Coming Home)’, which was recently rediscovered as the opening theme to ‘Deutschland 83, 86 and 89’.

s favourites ‘Jump (For My Love)’, ‘It’s Raining Men’ and ‘Feels Like I’m In Love’ lead on to the number one version of ‘La Bamba’ from Los Lobos. We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres. The prevalence of the synth in the 1980s gave rise to new and exciting sounds and to tracks that were created with fusions of genres.

Moving on with a selection of songs from some of the greatest female voices of the decade – including Whitney Houston, Dolly Parton, Chaka Khan, Irene Cara and Olivia Newton-John.
