About this deal

This is a slightly unusual DVD too, as it’s not saved in the regular DVD format, readable on a normal DVD player. The brilliance of the episode is not only was the kitsch of the material good, and the songs stellar, but it managed to carry on storylines with a couple of jaw dropping moments for characters that had ramifications past the episode. Beginning with the Season One (Discs 1-3), there’s an audio commentary on Welcome to the Hellmouth by Joss Whedon; an interview with Joss Whedon and David Boreanaz; additional interviews with Joss Whedon about Welcome to Hellmouth, The Harvest, Witch, Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, Angel, and The Puppet Show; scripts for Welcome to Hellmouth and The Harvest; a trailer for the show; a photo gallery; cast and crew biographies; and a screen saver via PC Friendly DVD-ROM.

Thus the Region 1 DVD plays the video at the same speed as the American broadcasts (which is the speed at which the show was filmed), while the Region 2 and 4 DVDs plays the video at the slightly faster speed that was used during the original British broadcasts. Part 2)', 'Ted', 'Bad Eggs', 'Surprise', 'Innocence', 'Phases', 'Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered', 'Passion', 'Killed By Death', 'I Only Have Eyes for You', 'Go Fish', 'Becoming (Part 1)' and 'Becoming (Part 2)'. The series aired in a 4:3 aspect ratio for all seven seasons in the United States, with the exception of " Once More, with Feeling" which was aired in widescreen. For Season Two (Discs 4-9), there’s an audio commentary for Reptile Boy by David Greenwalt; an audio commentary for What’s My Line, Pt.Greenberg; an audio commentary on Hell’s Bells by David Solomon and Rebecca Rand Kirshner; an audio commentary on Normal Again by Rick Rosenthal and Diego Gutierrez; an audio commentary on Grave by James A. It’s a handsome package, for sure, but I have a feeling that most folks would rather have Blu-ray releases of each season with new extras plus the old ones, not to mention episodes in HD. Other shows with supernatural themes have had an inherent curiosity and popular following associated to them, but Buffy was different from the others, in that it handled basic storytelling and character exposition so well and the main character so identifiable, that there's a reason why people remember it to this day. The second contains the episode " Once More, with Feeling" and a number of special features including a featurette on season 1 of Angel and a featurette titled " Buffy, Inside the Music".

Dialogue is clear and generally well-balanced with some pockets of drop-offs early on in the series, but overall this may have been one of the last shows (at least one of the last in my memory) of the big shows that didn't have the ‘advanced' audio of six-channel surrounds. In other instances the 16:9 aspect ratio shows goofs in frame like crew members or filming equipment on screen. The extra material in the widescreen versions is never important for the plot, although it gives additional views of the sets and backgrounds.Following the release of the individual season sets, three complete series box sets were produced by 20th Century Studios: the first on November 15, 2005, the second on October 10, 2010, and the third on September 18, 2017. Joss Whedon ( Firefly) created the television show, with the eponymous Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar, The Grudge) being your typical run of the mill teenager in high school. Buffy the Vampire Slayer premiered on the WB network in 1997 and eventually became an enormous success.
