About this deal

Do you feel weighed down by stress and pressure, held back by judgement and lack of opportunity, and critcised by everyone – including yourself? When after ten years of not seeing each other, Delilah is shocked when she receives a text message from Macon about something her sister did to him.

I constantly find myself trying to fix other people's issues while putting mine aside, only to forget about them. For complicated reasons that even they know don’t really make sense, Delilah and Macon choose to be forced into proximity with one another.

The people of Japan believe that everyone has an ikigai - a reason for being; the thing that gets you out of bed each morning. I did love the foodie aspect of this romance though, which we surprisingly got a lot more of than the hero’s Hollywood background. The second she walked back into my life, I became aware of two uncomfortable but undeniable facts: I am lonely as hell, and Delilah Baker feels like home.

Besides the "dated-my-sister"-trope this book had, Sam was such a constant throughout this whole book without even appearing much.Yet, against her better judgment, Delilah makes a deal with the devil that is Macon Saint, when her sister, who also happens to be Macon’s ex high-school girlfriend, skips town after stealing from him. I love reading and hearing about people accomplishing what they want and finding nothing but love and joy in it. Up into that point, the quotes, the emotions, the relationship and the overall chemistry that was built up was A+.

Macon was the perfect hero - growing up he was a real jerk to Delilah but there are just enough hints to give the reader an inkling that this isn't just pure malice, that there is something cooking we aren't privy to yet. like i said, it uses two of my favourite romance tropes, so there really wasnt any surprise that i would enjoy this so much. I suspected that was the true mark of the devil: turning people into starry-eyed fools when they ought to know better.I definitely liked the slow burn romance, and that none of the characters just "rolled over" for the other. Delilah often found herself acting as a third wheel in their relationship, especially since Macon was over at their house all the time.
