It’s possible,” Ward admitted. “But we have people on the ground telling us that there’s significant guerrilla activity in the forest to the east of the facility. As though they’re searching for something.” Mitch Rapp has worked for several presidents over his career, but Anthony Cook is unlike any he’s encountered before. Cunning and autocratic, he feels no loyalty to America’s institutions and is distrustful of the influence Rapp and CIA director Irene Kennedy have in Washington. CIA’s director Kennedy gets the information about evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the first trillionaire. Rapp has to protect him. But this time Rapp’s job is as difficult as he has to protect Ward and use him as bait to find the face of a traitor who is passing valuable government information.

When Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she assigns Rapp the task of protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets. It is a Mitch Rapp novel, so you expect action. Enemy At The Gates does not disappoint. There are multiple action scenes including an assault that features the defenders using a water cannon (I won’t spoil the scene by telling you more). Where Mr. Mills outdid himself was the way he made scenes without action have the same tension and draw as the action scenes do. This was especially true near the end of the book. The stage is set involving some of the most cunning and powerful players on the world stage. For the President et al, it is all about money, his/their (Wall Street)money, as in betting on a sure thing and having the rug pulled out from underneath. For others, it is being trapped between two titans, both determined to win. It is much like a chess game. Move, and countermove. For one it is about loyalty to nation and comrades in arms. For another, it is personal loyalty. The mutual theme is betrayal and a no-win situation for all involved. And they’re making the assumption that Chism’s dead,” Cook said, standing. “Which is almost certainly correct.” He offered his hand. “Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Nicholas. Irene and I will talk about it and let you know what we come up with.” When Kennedy discovers evidence of a mole scouring the Agency’s database for sensitive information on Nicholas Ward, the world’s first trillionaire, she convinces Rapp to take a job protecting him. In doing so, he finds himself walking an impossible tightrope: Keep the man alive, but also use him as bait to uncover a traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets.

Mitch Rapp is trying to find a new normal and balance in his life. He is working on recovering from the damage done to his body and rehabbing and strengthening with long-distance cycling. He is also finding he is more at home and happier with Claudia and Anna in South Africa on their vineyard than in their home in the United States. This thriller, set in Uganda, has David Chism a brilliant scientist, being hunted my terrorist and psychopath Gideon Auma. Nicholas Ward who funds Chism's research hires Scott Coleman and Mitch Rapp to rescue David against President Cooks demands. ENEMY AT THE GATES will rank as a masterpiece if not the best novel of Kyle Mills career in the thriller genre. Superbly written with edge-of-the-seat action, it focuses on the theme of betrayal, the kind of betrayal that damages not only a nation, but the kind that hits straight to the gut, that’s the most traumatic, the deadliest to the heart and soul, and the most personal. It’s a betrayal involving those caught in the middle and who suffer the repercussions of the most powerful players in the world squaring off against each other. Soon enough both Rapp and Kennedy come across a world where the lines between governments, multinational corporations, and the hyper-wealthy fade. Only powers matter and liberty, nationality, and loyalty are meaningless. Conclusion – Vince Flynn Setting David Chism aside for a moment, Gideon Auma is the leader of a terrorist organization that’s allied with Islamic extrem—”

Regional threats have a way of expanding in unpredictable ways, Mr. President. It’s a lesson we’ve learned over and over.” After this book, he completed his famous novel series, Mitch Rapp. Other than this novel he wrote many other novels that are equally famous. Born in 1966 in the town of St Paul in Minnesota, Mr. Flynn has grown to become a popular American author with a good number of best-selling books. Recently, his job title has also included being a story consultant for the hit TV series, 24. He now lives with his family; wife and three children, in the United States. Interestingly, the stars were not always lined up for him. While still in grade school, he was diagnosed with dyslexia at an early age. Democracy can be chaotic at times, and autocracy demands all, not a sharing of power. Kyle Mills is postulating a deliberate analogy to today’s world. Did you take note? One positive aspect of this lifestyle is that you can’t help but absorb an enormous amount about the FBI, CIA, Special Forces, etc. Like most young boys, I was endlessly fascinated with talk of chasing criminals and, of course, pictured it in the most romantic terms possible. Who would have thought that all this esoteric knowledge would end up being so useful?

I agree that she was probably involved in Christine’s death and that she has to go. But I don’t see this as a pressing issue. Kennedy still has a lot of support on both sides of the aisle and the longer she stays, the less political it will look when we put her out to pasture.”

Biography of Mr. Flynn

Kennedy brings some startling concerns to the president, that there is someone within the Agency scouring through sensitive intel and providing it to America’s enemies. The crux of the data leaks relate to Nicholas Ward, the world’s richest man. His work in the pharmaceutical field could change the lives of many, but if he falls into the wrong hands, there could be serious repercussions. President Cook agrees and allows Mitch Rapp to head out, in hopes of protecting Ward on the other side of the world. The following day, word spreads around about the assassination which also claimed lives of several civilians. The authorities in France are after the assassin and the dilemma now falls on the CIA. They hope that their secret agent would not be exposed at the same time denying their involvement in the incident. Mitch Rapp has settled into a happy life with Claudia and her seven-year-old daughter Anna. His moments with Anna are some of the cutest and happiest in the book. There is a new president of the United States (Anthony Cook) that Irene Kennedy does not trust. He and his wife are cunning and want to do whatever is in their power to get rid of Irene Kennedy, the Director of the CIA, and Mitch Rapp. The couple rope in a mole and halfway through the book the action gets really good because Mitch must go into the field to protect Nicholas Ward. Kyle Mills does it again. Enemy At The Gates is yet another example of Kyle Mill's ability to blend fiction with a mix of current zeitgeist to weave a story line that is not only believable, but also leaves you wondering, when not if, will I read about this story in the headlines.

Maybe it’s time to cut that thread. Keeping her on has played well up to this point, but she’s dangerous. You’d have to be an idiot to think she didn’t have something to do with Christine Barnett’s suicide. And if she’d do it to her, she’ll do it to me.”

By the time he’d thrown his own hat into the ring, though, he’d reinvented himself. President Cook was good looking, physically imposing, and impeccably dressed. He oozed concern for every one of the three hundred and thirty million people under his care. He was the man with the answers. The man who would lead America into a future so bright it was blinding. She nodded. “There’s opportunity here for us. The question is do we want to exploit it. So far, we’ve been fairly conservative in our actions. But we’re only three and a half years from the next election. At some point, we’re going to have to move forward.” This is the first book of the famous series Mitch Rapp series by Vince Flynn. This book initiates the thrilling journey of undercover cop Mitch Rapp. A huge thank you to the team that creates the Ambassador program for giving me the pleasure to read my favorit
