This system has impressed me. Compared to the Tenda my down/up is 200-300% higher. I’m consistently pulling in 300-400 Mbps throughout my house now (wireless) and easily hit my 940 mbps mark wired. No issues there.

Being a Vilo beta tester was a great experience, especially in providing bug reports and seeing the evolution of the early Vilo 6 firmware to the current stable version has been very fun! To test the coverage, I tested both the RBR40 and Vilo’s mesh router inside and out. I walked the periphery of my yard, measuring the signal strength of both networks with the Network Cell Info Lite app for a Samsung Galaxy S21 phone. While the Orbi’s signal was slightly stronger, the app reported significantly higher available link speeds for Vilo’s mesh. The Vilo 6 offers all the features most people would ever need, but without the cost and complexity of the other products on the market. It surprised us with reliable and consistent performance. And the brand is clearly aiming the system at someone who doesn’t want to pay to rent a Wi-Fi setup from their service provider while also increasing their overall coverage. So all and all, it does what you need, simplistic network- but for folks, not geeks like me, it's really nice. The placement of nodes in a mesh network can be pretty critical. It doesn’t matter what system you have, if you don’t think through the positioning you’ll probably end up with bad results.

Results were similar with the Vilo satellite node. Its speed of 175Mbps was significantly slower than the Asus ZenWiFi AC CT8 node (441Mbps), and trailed both the Meshforce M7 (323Mbps) and the EnGenius ESR580 (222Mbps) nodes on the close-proximity test. The Vilo node’s speed of 140Mbps at a distance of 30 feet couldn’t catch the Meshforce M7 (298Mbps) or the EnGenius ESR580 (178Mbps), and once again the Asus ZenWiFi AC CT8 led with 329Mbps. I’m not gonna go into great detail but from what I can tell, Vilo has a quality product at a great value! Edit: All my issues are about to be solved or already have been. After a lot more testing everything has been going very smoothly. Just waiting for Static IP to be added, and then it's a done deal.Using Google’s built-in speed test, I measured throughput in three areas of the house. I then compared it to the Netgear Orbi RBR40, with a router and single satellite. Using my 400Mbps broadband connection, I achieved speeds of 347Mbps over Wi-Fi next to the main router via the Orbi, and 415Mbps using Vilo. Using the T-Mobile signal as a source, Vilo’s throughput maxed out at 146Mbps next to the router. Those are represented as the “baseline” figures in the chart, below.
