About this deal

The mushroom grow bags do need to breathe and require proper ventilation during both the colonization and fruiting stages. During the colonization stage, the filter patch on the bag will provide an optimal gas exchange. During the fruiting stage, you'll need to provide air exchange by cutting or puncturing the bag to allow fresh air to circulate. Offering fresh air exchange during these crucial phases helps prevent mold and bacteria from growing inside the bag.

So what exactly can our fungal friends do for us? Well, edible gourmet mushrooms provide a nutrient dense, low-calorie source of fiber, protein, and antioxidants. This makes them incredibly healthy, as well as fun to grow! You may have heard of species such as Lion’s Mane ( Hericium erinaceus), Turkey Tail ( Trametes versicolor), Cordyceps ( Cordyceps militaris), Reishi ( Ganoderma lingzhi), Shiitake ( Lentinula edodes) and Oyster ( Pleurotus ostreatus). These are all species that can be readily grown at home. For oyster mushrooms, the entire process takes about two to three weeks. You will know your bag is ready to fruit when the entire substrate is covered with bright white mycelium. Step 5: Trigger Your Mushrooms to Start Fruiting Even for mushroom species like shiitake that are traditionally grown on logs, we still prefer to use mushroom grow bags instead.

 All In One Bag.

Bags are sterilized in a commercial-grade steam autoclave, and sterility is verified using biological indicators and temperature sensors. (Condensation around the injection port may occur, and will not negatively impact the product or its performance.) Proper ventilation and fresh air exchange are important during both the colonization and fruiting stages of mushroom grow bags.

Mushroom grow bags are made almost exclusively from plastic. Other materials like cloth are too permeable and will lead to the substrate drying out and too many contaminants getting in. Now that you know how to set up your all in one grow bag, let's explore where you should place them to maximize their potential. Mushroom spawn bags are commonly used for inoculating substrate with mushroom mycelium, while substrate bags serve as containers for fully colonized mycelium ready for fruiting. All in one mushroom grow bags combine both functions into a single bag, making them incredibly convenient and user-friendly. Turn on the cold tap (preferably in the kitchen- not the bathroom) and add enough water to the bag so the mushroom substrate loaf sits in 1 inch of water. The chlorine in the water actually helps cleanse the loaf whilst it takes it’s little bath. Seal the bag up and leave it for 12 hours, then drain for 30 minutes at an angle. High-volume operations will use an impulse sealer to seal their bags shut. This machine melts the plastic to form a seal. On a large scale this can save you time and effort.

What You Shouldn’t Do

We feel like that’s a good size for most beginners. Bags that are too small don’t produce enough to be worth it. But overly large bags are inconvenient and unwieldy to handle.

The most basic is a ‘spray and grow’ type kit. This is essentially a bag of pre-colonised substrate, usually wood or straw, with the mycelium grown to full maturity and ready to fruit. This means that 90% of the hard work has been done for you. Once you receive the kit, all you will need to do is follow some basic instructions. They’re called ‘spray and grow’ kits because you simply spray them with water to start the fruiting process, as well as give them some light. Their primary appeal is that are very easy to use and offer a high chance of success. So, if you’re looking for something that requires minimal effort, they might be an option. The caveat to that is that you won’t learn a great deal about the process of cultivating mycelium, which as we mentioned before, is the most critical part of mushroom growing. CHOOSING THE BEST MUSHROOM GROWING KIT Anyone who has tried to pull well colonized spawn out of a grain jar knows that sometimes it just doesn’t want to come out. You end up digging it out with a spoon, and risking contamination in the process. Picture trying to get that stubborn ketchup out of a glass bottle. Spawn bags solve this problem. We like growing on straw pellets the best. However you can also experiment with wood pellets or chopped straw. In most cases, the bag will be moved to a fruiting room with a light source, high humidity and fresh air exchange. All that’s needed is to cut some slits into the bag and to mist the openings daily. You can adjust the ratio as needed for larger or smaller amounts. Just be sure to keep the proportion of your pellets, water and spawn the same. You might wonder, “ Can you reuse mushroom grow bags?“. The answer is yes, but only with meticulous cleaning and sterilization. However, reusing bags can increase the risk of contamination, and thus it is usually recommended to use a new bag each time. The price of a bag isn’t as costly as your time. Do Mushroom Bags Need to Breathe? Welcome to the world of gourmet and exotic mushroom cultivation! If you've ever been curious about growing your own delicious mushrooms at home, then an All In One Mushroom Grow Bag is your perfect starting point.

In about 3-5 days after inoculating your mushroom grow kit, the grain at the bottom of the kit will start to turn white or “colonize”. Wait until all the grain has fully colonized. Once that happens you can mix the entire contents of the kit to disperse the grain throughout the soil. Wait and allow the entire kit (grain and compost) to fully colonize. You will want to fruit the kit once the entire substrate reaches 80% or higher colonization. Ideally, you want to wait until it is 100% but sometimes mycelium growth will slow down and your kit may not reach full colonization within an ideal time frame. If you choose the latter, follow the steps below to maximize your harvests. Step 1: Flatten the Grow Bag and Prepare the Substrate Inadequate fruiting: If you're not seeing adequate fruiting from your grow bag, consider adjusting the environmental conditions. Increase fresh air exchange by cutting or puncturing holes in the bag for better airflow. Make sure the bag is placed in a bright location with high humidity levels for optimal fruiting conditions. To ensure optimal moisture levels for your mushrooms in a bag, it's essential to properly sterilize your substrate before use. This helps eliminate any potential contaminants that could hinder the growth of your fungi. Sterilization can be done through methods such as pressure cooking or steam pasteurization, depending on the type of substrate you're using. Mushrooms don’t photosynthesize light like plants do. They simply use the light as a cue that it’s time to start growing. Step 6: Harvest Your MushroomsShroomTek contains a proprietary blend of sterilized, nutrient-rich, organic manure-based compost, organic grain, coco coir, and several quality substrate supplements (although we keep the exact blend a secret!) Each bag is optimally hydrated for substrate mix and volume to ensure a healthy, well-hydrated environment for optimal mycelial growth.
