About this deal

The series features the main characters of Scarlett and Tella Dragna, who live a sad existence with their father on the island. They dream about getting away, and when they get an invitation to participate in a strange but one-of-a-kind show, they jump at the chance. But this festival may be more than it appears to be, and before they know it the girls are caught up in the mysterious and intoxicating world of Caraval.

I thought you’ve always wanted to go to the capital, to see all its ancient ruins and the carriages that float through the sky, and this will be the party of the century! What’s there to talk about? the anticipation for me.. when i found out who actually was legend, shook. but what i truly am in love with is stephanie garber's writing. sure, her worldbuilding was predictably confusing, but just the way she makes me feel like i'm in a whole new magical and enchanted world. i questioned everything while reading legendary, the familiar feeling of not quite knowing if caraval is a game or not!Ok so Im the only one who thought Dante being Legend was a whole ass disappointment, like ok?? I suspected that?? Even before he called Julian “brother”. Idk, I expected more. Or at least I expected the author to not throw it at my face so soon?? This book was really addictive. It had twists and turns and literally the whole time I didn’t know who to trust and what would be the right choice for Tella. first of all, let’s state the obvious: i didn’t like this book that much. it’s something that i wasn’t expecting since i had high hopes after seeing a lot of people saying it was going to be better than the first one, and well... i don’t think it was. it’s not necessarily bad, some things were enjoyable, but Caraval was slightly better. I changed my rating from four to five stars, because I reread this book and it was still so addictive and entertaining. Definitely a good thing for a book. Ugh, where do I even begin? I just felt so meh about this book at the halfway mark and beyond. What went wrong, you might ask? I have no idea.

this was why love was so dangerous. love turned the world into a garden, so beguiling it was easy to forget that rose petals were as ephemeral as feelings, eventually they would wilt and die, leaving nothing but the thorns.” Dante had been more than a little nasty to Scarlett during Caraval. He worked for Legend, so it had only been an act—but although Caraval was over, it was still somewhat difficult to weed out the bits of fact from fiction. And Tella didn’t want her sister further hurt because Tella had chosen to have some fun with a boy who’d been so cruel to Scarlett during the game.

Think whatever you want, but if you honestly believe that’s the only reason im here with you right now, you are not nearly as clever as I thought” Another update: Lots of readers have been asking me if Legendary is the last book in the Caraval series or if there will be more, and I'm thrilled to share that there will be another book: FINALE. I'm so excited to write this book, and if you're interested you can add it to your Goodreads shelf right now: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... There you go! That’s what happened in Legendary, the second book in this series. Garber will release Finale, the third book in this trilogy, on May 30, 2019. I knew I would like Tella, especially after what she did in the first book, but I didn't expect to fall so head-over-heels for this girl. She's way more complex and brave than she lets on. This is a girl you can root for. There's much more to her history and past that you don't get from Scarlett's POV, and oh my heart broke for her over and over.a b "Children's Book Review: Caraval". Publishers Weekly. October 17, 2016 . Retrieved January 18, 2020. dante dante dante please find a personality. he’s so boring omg how can anyone root for him. he has no charisma. i did not care for him. and that whole “fake fiance” business was his own doing, so don’t be getting mad about it you donut. seriously, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? dear god. sometimes i felt like the author was trying too hard to make the writing poetic and instead it came off as pretentious. don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying Stephanie Garber is a bad writer, but i can’t say i’m amazed by her writing style. But I know that Caraval has a way of making people fall in love, and sometimes it's with people who might not be entirely real”

But again, decide for yourself. I would say that if you're on the fence, maybe just stop with the first book. Wait until the third book publishes and binge-read the series. Or just stop with Caraval. Caraval had a lovely ending and you can imagine an epilogue of Scarlett and Julian 40 years down the road, happily ever after. No need to read about unnecessary drama.

I'm trying to pinpoint exactly why Legendary didn't work as well for me. It may be because this story felt choppily tied to the first, almost as if it was an afterthought to continue in this direction rather than naturally flowing from the first book. It could also be the fact that I simply didn't connect with Tella's narration as well as I did with Scarlett's in the first book, possibly because I don't like her as much. *shrugs* Whatever the case, and as negative as this all sounds, I still did consider this a positive reading experience; I typically struggle with middle installments in trilogies and this one was fast paced and suspenseful from beginning to end. It's an easy read, one that almost reads itself, and while we're still left with questions, it was fun experiencing a totally different plot than the first and pondering whether the information we receive at the end is indeed true or simply left to throw us off our game until next year. Tella trotted up the closest staircase. Her room was on the second floor. With a rounded robin’s-egg-blue door, it was easy to find. It was also impossible to miss Scarlett and Julian, standing next to it, holding on to each other as if they’d forgotten how to say the word good-bye. NO DA AMIGO NO DA!!!
