About this deal

If you’re happy to spend a decent amount of money on a new oven, it's easy to be seduced by the wealth of additional features on offer. We spoke to buying experts from AO.com, Appliances Direct and Currys to find out what they think about the following features. Since this particular countertop oven is designed specifically for pizza, it has a slightly different aesthetic than other models. It has a retro design that's attractive in an industrial sort of way. Outside of looks, the design is convenient enough, since it’s wider than it is tall, which makes it easier to store under your cabinets. If you want to store it between uses, it's easy to transport but heavy. Preheat Skillet: Place a cast iron skillet* over medium-high heat for just a few minutes. To test if it’s hot enough, sprinkle a little water on it. If it sizzles, it’s ready. Part grill: for when you’re only grilling a small amount, like cheese on toast or a couple of rashers of bacon After several weeks of testing the Omnia with a variety of dishes, my conclusion is that it’s the best way to bake on the stove top that I’ve ever tried. If your boat (or RV or any other kitchen) doesn’t have a true oven, I highly recommend the Omnia oven:

Have you tried my Crazy Dough? You can also use that for a stovetop pizza. Whichever dough you choose the cooking instructions will be the same as below. The Coleman Camp Oven is huge and very tippy on a boat unless you engineer some serious tie-downs for it. The machine can fit a 13-inch pizza, nine slices of bread, or almost an entire bag of frozen fries. We were impressed by how easy it is to clean, with a removable crumb tray and fully disassemble parts that all clean off with a simple rinse or wipe. Another nice feature is its many color options, which will match any kitchen. Just be careful with the door: Its glass gets quite hot while in use. It may surprise you to learn that some of the best air fryers aren’t dedicated air fryers, but countertop ovens with air-frying functionality. Such is the case with this model by Cuisinart, which “fries” food to that golden brown, crispy perfection using super-hot air circulated by an ultra-powerful fan. Type: The two main types of electric ranges are traditional electric and induction , and the difference lies in how the cooktops work. A traditional electric cooktop's elements heat up after electricity passes through the burner. An induction cooktop is embedded with heating elements that are powered by electromagnetic energy that directly heats the magnetic iron in cookware. The burners themselves never get hot, but you do have to make sure you use induction-safe cookware.

Control the heat: cook over medium/low heat to allow the pizza base time to cook through fully without browning too fast. New research published in 2022 linked gas stove pollution to negative health effects, prompting federal regulators to consider potential legislation. However, it's unclear when and whether federal consumer safety regulators will introduce new rules for gas oven and stove manufacturers.

The instructions say to then turn the burner down to medium or lower. I found that I had better results if I left it on high just about a minute (to heat the air on top of the food) and then turned it down to slightly higher than medium. When I baked using the Dutch oven, it was hard to keep the top of the baked food from being steamed by the moisture being driven out of the food. The Omnia takes care of that, with the lid being high enough over the food to have quite a bit of hot air there, as well as having holes to let the steam escape. My bread and baked goods were very similar in texture to what they were in a conventional oven. Buying the Omnia OvenI’ve never recommended “baking” in a pressure cooker, as it is very likely to warp the pan if you use it dry, and using water in it means that your food is steamed instead of baked (fine if it’s supposed to be steamed, not so good otherwise). The system is simple: you place the steel base on the burner and let it heat for about 3 minutes on high. Put your food into the baking pan and put the lid on it, then set it onto the base. Easy clean enamel: As the name suggests, the enamel lining of the oven doesn’t absorb fat and dirt, making the surface wipe clean. Be aware, these need to be cleaned regularly to avoid grease build-up baking on hard Avoid overloading the crust with toppings or sauces so no excess moisture will be released that will make the crust soggy. Split ovens: These ovens can be split in two, allowing you to cook at two different temperatures at the same time. A central panel splits the oven into two separate compartments, so you could cook sweet and savoury dishes without the flavours melding. "These ovens are great for versatility and have the benefits of a double oven, with the large capacity of a single oven when needed," says Emma Cabourn, buyer at Appliances Direct, "they also help to save energy, giving the option to cook in a smaller cavity without heating the entire oven." AO’s expert, Isabella Forgione, adds that split ovens are ideal for busy households and make a fantastic addition, "if you’re short on space, or for those who want the choice of more cooking options."

Prevents odor, smoke and splashing oil : prevents smoke and odor by discharging fat and grease immediately as it forms. Besides baking, many countertop ovens have additional features and functions. While most models have have toast, bake, and warm modes, there's a wide range of more advanced technology out there. Higher-end models have more specific and elevated options, including a powerful fan for convection baking and air frying, a rotating rotisserie, or a high-heat pizza mode. Some even have smart functionality to take the guesswork out—you simply tell the oven what you're cooking and it does the temperature and time for you. In general, more features means a higher price, and it might not be worth paying for cooking modes you don't plan to use. A Stovetop Pizza is a pizza that NEVER needs to bake in the oven! That’s right! It is made from start to finish on the stovetop. The result is a crisp, bubbly base with loads of yummy toppings and gooey cheese on top. Last time I looked, that was the definition of a pizza. A Dutch oven won’t bake as much as the Omnia, it’s hard to keep foods from burning on the bottom and the top tends to be steamed from the moisture driven out of the food (which has no way to escape). QUARTS CAPACITY: Cook for a lot of people with this toaster oven’s 30+ quarts capacity. Even though it can cook more, it is actually compact with an exact dimension of 19.6’’ x .16.0’’ x 13.5’’ that’s perfect for any kitchen countertop or tabletop My Best Ever Pizza Dough is a delicious No-Knead dough that yields a flavorful, bubbly crust. This recipe makes four 10″ pizzas. Minute minder: this setting automatically turns off the oven after cooking – great for meringues or baked cheesecake Self-cleaning – a function that makes it easier for you to clean your oven. Grease and food residue are burned to ashes and can easily be brushed out.
