About this deal

With four times as many hops and four times as much bitterness as other IPAs, Sink The Bismark boasts high alcohol by volume (ABV). An alcohol free version of crisp, Italian-style lager, Birra Morretti, Moretti Zero is our favourite among them. There are some high alcohol content beers that are astonishingly high in alcohol by volume, even though the term “high ABV” might be somewhat subjective.

You allow the beer to ferment for several days, dry-hopping when and where the comprehensive instructions in the pack tell you. Upping the ante in the field of ethical consumerism, Toast’s beers all have one unique selling point in common – they’re made using surplus fresh bread from local bakeries. But, because of resistance from cider manufacturers, the government did not extend the rise to super-strength ciders. The use of the local soft spring water and classic Czech Saaz hops give this beer its distinctive, ever-popular characteristics. There’s no denying the length and breadth of Britain is home to some of the best beer (and breweries) in the world. Bristol-based Lost and Grounded have only been going since 2016, but it hasn't taken long for their Keller Pils lager to become a craft favourite among those in the know. We're going to look at ten exceptional bottled and canned beers from established and newer breweries, with a specific focus on lagers that you may not have tried before.

It’s not as strong as the triple-digit-proof heavyweights, and from the sound of things, it seems like Samuel Adams actually endeavors to make it a drinkable beer. Infused with Mediterranean flavours, namely Italian lemon and olive leaf extract, it has a flavour profile that eschews bitterness. A beer to satisfy just about all comers, Freestar lager is low-alcohol, gluten-free and vegan to boot. Pilsners, on the whole, are a tad hoppier and more aromatic than your typical lager, and are characterised by a mild, pleasant bitterness. Lager beers are frequently brewed for an extended period of time after the lager has been heated to a temperature lower than the keller. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen. More alcohol will reach your bloodstream if you introduce more than normal because it will take longer for the alcohol to be diluted. Of course, all the above would be moot if the lager itself didn’t come up to scratch in the taste department. Overall, this lager’s sessionable ABV, light body and bright flavours make for an easy-drinking and moreish variation on a classic.

Lager brewery Lost and Grounded has cracked the once simple, straightforward lager and transformed it into something extremely special – with a focus on German brewing styles. We've also tested the best vegan beers, best gluten-free beers and best low-alcohol beers to find a bottle perfect for you, whatever your requirements may be. You get a little dusty bitterness at the end but, fundamentally, this is all about sickly candied malt. This is an exceptionally clear and light lager that’s as mild, refreshing and thirst-quenching as a good lager should be. The eleventh, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy Imperial Stout, is still a mystery to me — I can’t remember drinking it.Some well-known brands contain up to 30% of processed maize, corn syrup, or starch derived from barley or wheat. While it may not be as flavourful as the stronger beers on our list, it’s nonetheless a tasty, hoppy alternative that’ll see you reaching for a second can (but without the guilt). With some European old-timers, some modern British classics and even some low ABV options, we've got a range to suit all tastes. Not subject to the strict brewing regulations in place in many European countries, American lagers can also incorporate adjuncts like rice or corn. Have to agree with this but if you're not phased add Kestrel Super (9%) to the list - it pours (and probably tastes) like tar.

This higher temperature fermentation is what causes ales to develop compounds which give them their fruitier flavours, with notes of peach, banana and sweet-citrus being common.Despite what many of us might think or feel, the type of container our beer comes in doesn't really affect the taste, but there are some important differences worth looking at. Cloudwater is a game-changer, and has earned its firm spot when it comes to Britain’s (and the North’s) best beers. Despite the German label announcing: “ Gebraut nach dem Deutschen Reinheitsgebot,” this is produced in France and is so dull and sweet, so lacking in a pilsner’s trademark dry hoppiness, that you could easily mistake it for a mainstream US beer.
