About this deal

There’s ultimately a lot made of the fact that Thomas and Viv strive obsessively to appear ‘perfect’ to the outside world.

I knew this was going to be a great read from the beginning and, even though I guessed how some of the story would conclude, I enjoyed the buzz as the plot reached its climax. But when she stumbles and falls on stage during the ceremony, a beautiful moment turns into chaos: Gemma has been shot, and just like that, she's fighting for her life. It's Gemma's big day, she is ready to graduate University and her parents Ed and Rachel are thrilled! But when a fling with the feisty beauty leads to an unexpected pregnancy, Aine runs from her sexy, stubborn boss.Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author Teresa Driscoll for the privilege of reading this book.

Seventeen-year-old Tarryn is dabbling in a seedy online world; her older brother, Eli, has dropped out of college and refuses to tell his parents why; and Thomas and Viv have their own secrets that began as harmless fun and relief from the pressures of everyday life, but have grown into something darker and more dangerous. For Arthur Dent, who has only just had his house demolished that morning, this seems already to be more than he can cope with. I was lost sometimes during the investigator chapters trying to keep up which character was who, but soon it all fell into place and it was smooth reading from then on. I’m not sure that our author has ever spoken to teenagers or people who smoke weed, but this line made me laugh out loud. The plot goes backwards and forwards piecemeal but without being disjointed to intriguingly fill gaps in the plot jigsaw puzzle.I really liked the way the story used different perspectives to bring the story together and also the red herrings that the author threw my way with regard to the identity of the shooter. Her Perfect Family is a thrilling ride, a finely-crafted mystery that begins with a terrible act of violence, a mother’s worst nightmare. Although I didn't connect with the characters and found it mostly unbelievable the story did actually hold my interest and I was eager to get to the final conclusion. I don’t mind admitting that the author had me totally fooled and I never once suspected the actual perpetrator, leaving me shook when we got to the big reveal. With tense scenes at Gemma's graduation, what follows is a story that has the police trying to find the suspect.
